The Haves and the Have-Mores

John Edwards says there are two Americas. He's right. If by that, he means the Haves and the Have Mores.

According to Robert Rector at the Heritage Foundation:

"Overall, the typical American defined as poor by the government has a car, air conditioning, a refrig erator, a stove, a clothes washer and dryer, and a microwave. He has two color televisions, cable or satellite TV reception, a VCR or DVD player, and a stereo. He is able to obtain medical care. His home is in good repair and is not overcrowded. By his own report, his family is not hungry and he had sufficient funds in the past year to meet his family's essential needs. While this individual's life is not opulent, it is equally far from the popular images of dire poverty conveyed by the press, liberal activists, and politicians."

This is not to say they're aren't people in this country who have it really tough. But it is to say that when you define someone as poor who has all the stuff mentioned above, you're living in a pretty extraordinary country.

  3. David never disappoints.

Instead of simply recognizing that it is pretty amazing that people can be classified as poverty stricken in this country and still have all the things mentioned above, David says guys like Robert Rector are constantly "thinking of ways to keep the poor poorer."

His view is pretty simple: If you are a conservative you must hate the poor and wish them deprivation.

The poor can thank God for "compassionate" liberals like Diano. What would they do without their spending so much of their time in front of computers, railing against their mutual enemies?

    Compassion, thy name is Diano.

  4. Liberals are *%$#ed up.

They just refuse to let go of their cheap class warfare even when faced with evidence to the contrary.

  6. The ‘poor’ are doing just fine. They have it much better here and now than at any other time or place in history.

Socialist Liberals get caught up in their spread-the-wealth mentality and forget that his is the Land of Opportunity not the Land of Comfortable Lifestyle for All.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is what we are promised; the freedom to pursue prosperity, not the assurance of prosperity for everyone, including the lazy.
