No Freedom from Mumaniacs

Diane McNamara, widow of slain Upper Darby police officer Dennis McNamara, noticed a guest column on our web site written by one Mary Shaw, Amnesty International spokeslady and Mumia supporter.

"More crap about Mumia!" Diane writes, and asks, "When will it ever end????"

It won't. But it always deserves a reply.

Mine will be in tomorrow's paper. Here's a preview:

"Mary Shaw wants closure. Or claims to.

"The human rights "activist" from Philadelphia recently wrote a guest column (it can be found on our web site) arguing for a new trial for convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal.

"This, she bizarrely suggests, will bring "closure" (kind of like opening a wound and pouring salt in it, I guess) for those involved in the 26-year-old case."

Read the whole thing in tomorrow's paper.

I will look forward to tomorrow's article. I am amazed that a Philadelphia-based paper would even think to publish such a factually deficient opinion piece. The record and the evidence are clear. Five eyewitnesses, balistics evidence, and a confession. Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted by a jury of his peers of 1st degree murder and was sentenced to die. Read the trial and appeal transcripts,it's all there. Ms Shaw should spend more researching her facts and not use this case inappropriately to advance her anti-death penalty agenda. Amnesty International did not protest Officer Faulkner's death sentence brutally rendered by his murderer Mumia Abu Jamal.

Why is Amnesty Internation not coming to defense of Faulkner Family?

Could you imagine what a circus a re-trial for Mumia would be? It's funny how Amnesty International is running to the aid of a hate filled man who murdered a cop. I wonder if they would be so quick to back up a neo-nazi white guy who murdered someone.

Unfortunately, I think Wesley Cook will die of natural causes, an old man, in jail. Luckily though, his eternal sentence still awaits him and he can't appeal his way out of that one!

Well, Mary Shaw is a joke of an activist. I emailed her, she included her email address on all prior Delco Times editorials, about her editorial about global warming and her inaccuracies. She actually said, "I don't have time to respond to questions about my articles." Now, who in their right mind would send an editorial with her email and website and not expect to hear comments?

Mary Shaw makes a living off of deceiving the American people. She's almost as bad as John Edwards, she just doesn't have $300 haircuts and a huge house.

Thanks for writing that piece, Gil. I was so offended by her guest column, that I was going to write a letter myself, but a lot more people read your column than the letters to the editor, I'm sure.

I like how Shaw suggests that Mumia should have his very own criminal justice system, complete with "neutral" observers from AI. What a joke.

One clarification on your column, in the interest of accuracy (Mumia supporters like to point out when "our" side says something untrue, although that's all they ever do). The ballistics tests did not match the slugs from Faulkner's body to Mumia's gun, exclusively. The slugs were too damaged for such a link to be made. They were, however, matched to the type of gun: (.38 cal with the correct number of lands and grooves, and with a right hand twist). That matches Mumia's gun, but also matches many others. Of course, Mumia's was the only one found at the scene.

Anyway, great column, Gil. I'd encourage anyone who wants to know more about the case to go to www.danielfaulkner.com and read the new book by Maureen Faulkner and Michael Smerconish "Murdered by Mumia".

Great article, Gil. Rarely do we see such blunt honesty from the Left-appeasing Press.

On a similar note, I think Wesley Snipes should be charged with ethnic intimidation for making claims of wholesale white racial prejudice in the jury selection for his tax evasion trial when absolutely no proof of such is present. Since when has the race of the potential jury pool in a local become actionable evidence of racial bias? The inherent implication that whites cannot fairly render justice to a non-white suspect is as offensive as it is despicable. Never mind the associated implication that blacks could be expected to be more fair -and not just more sympathetic to a fellow black as we have seen on numerous occasions. Maybe whites should likewise start asserting their “right” to not have blacks on their juries?
At the very least whites should forever more boycott his movies. No sense in giving your entertainment dollars directly to someone who blindly hates you just because of your skin color, right?

I would love for these idiots to get a taste of reality. I'd love for them to get robbed at gun point or for this Shaw lady to be the victim of violent crime. Then let's hear about compassion, forgiveness and fairness. You can only wonder how she would react if one of her loved ones was gunned down by a hate filled criminal and clueless fools stepped up for the murderer.

Thanks Joe,

I should have said the slugs were wholly "consistent with" having been fired from the Mumia's .38, which was found a few feet from him the night of the crime.

E -

While it is always tempting to wish a taste of reality on nitwits there are plenty of decent people willing to forgive the worst sorts of behavior even when it is directed at them or their families.

What is indecent is ignoring the truth, rewriting history, and siding with murderers over their victims.

Clearly, that is what Mumia supporters and Amnesty International is doing here.

It’s not about fairness or justice or injustice or anything else. That’s all just smoke and blather. This is just another classic case of Liberals’ misplaced sympathies. Period. The f-ing idiots are traitors no matter the topic… criminals over cops… wrong over right… immoral over moral… terrorists over America… The idiots can always be counted on to come down on exactly the wrong side.

Agreed that Mumia was rightfully found guilty and the matter should be dropped. And that the column was idiotic.

But Gil, in light of your past "reporting" I find it more than a little nauseating to hear you, of all people, preach about the indecency of rewriting history, and siding with criminals over their victims. It is equally sickening to see you slamming people for being inaccurate, even where you yourself admittedly failed to accurately report the facts in your own column, something you have done not for the first time(?) (the screwing up or manipulating the truth, not the admitting to it, that is)
