Democrats: The Party of Racism?

At a recent meeting with the Pittsburgh Post Gazette editorial board, columnist Tony Norman says Gov. Ed Rendell suggested Barack Obama would have a tough time beating Hillary Clinton in this state because of his race.

Norman wrote:

"You've got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate," he (Rendell) said bluntly. Our eyes only met briefly, perhaps because the governor wanted to spare the only black guy in the room from feeling self-conscious for backing an obvious loser. "I believe, looking at the returns in my election, that had Lynn Swann [2006 Republican gubernatorial candidate] been the identical candidate that he was --well-spoken [note: Mr. Rendell did not call the brother "articulate"], charismatic, good-looking -- but white instead of black, instead of winning by 22 points, I would have won by 17 or so."

Think about it. Here you have white, moderate/liberal Democratic governor suggesting that "conservative whites" might "not be ready to vote for an African American candidate in a DEMOCRATIC primary.

Given that Lynn Swann, a black man, was the nominee of the Republican (read: "more conservative") Party, it takes quite a bit of chutzpah for the Guv to blame racist "conservatives" for his defeat.

I doubt the governor, an announced Hillary Clinton supporter, is referring to himself. I suppose there are some "conservative" DEMOCRATS left in this state but aren't they few and far between.

Doesn't Ed really mean "racist" Democrats?

If Hillary wins the Pennsylvania Democratic primary, it seems, at least in Ed's opinion, she'll have a good number of racist Democrats to thank.

UPDATE: Who would have thought there would have been so many fewer racists in Virginia's Democratic Party?

UPDATE II: If Hillary loses, will Ed blame Pennsylvania Democrats for being too sexist?

  3. Leave it to Liberal Dave to try and turn this around on Repubs and employ his usual dishonest and baseless –unsubstantiated- accusations to do it.

Sure there is some truth to Fast Eddie’s words. But the great big elephant in the room that no one is talking about is the widespread racism of the American BLACK community that this election has exposed. That’s the real story. What about all the blacks that won’t vote for a white as they blindly support one of their own in Obama? That’s racial partisanship.
What ever happened to all that talk of judging a person by the content of their character and not the color of their skin? I guess that’s just for whites.

To vote FOR someone just and only because of their race is JUST AS WRONG as NOT voting for them because of their race. Period. They’re both racism. Doesn’t matter if it’s whites or blacks doing it. But in our society today such racism from blacks is accepted.

Rendell’s comments are only “controversial” and made headlines because he is a white daring to comment on things racial. Whites have been bullied and bludgeoned into silence on the topic of race. Any white that dares broach the subject risks getting labeled a racist. While blacks are free to make any racial claims they want, regardless of how inflammatory or baseless. Thank the apologist Liberals in the Media for this engineered Racial Double Standard which serves to keep all discussions about race a one-sided scolding.

It is interesting to see blacks so suddenly approve of racism –even attempting to justify it! -when it is they and their fellow blacks doing it.
Somewhere near 90% of blacks supporting the black candidate tells the tale. If whites were to practice such blatant racial partisanship it would rightly be called “racism”. And it sure would be called that. Even though now we have proof that blacks as a group are more racist today.

  5. Man, Apologist Lib Dave is dragging out all the contrived coding in his failed attempt to justify this ugly display of blatant, broad black racism.
Substitute “white” for “black” in any of Dave’s points and he’d be screaming how whites are racist. But when blacks do it they’re just voting their interests. Lol…
See how Libism always fails to stand up to scrutiny. That's why they are always forced to lie to you.
It’s fun to expose dishonest Liberal hypocrites. Next!

  7. Randal lives in Bizarro land where;

    Up is down
    Right is left
    War is peace
    Bush is bright

He was probably wearing his sheet and hood during his latest rant on rascism.

  8. …and smart is dumb, right, Snark? Lol…

There’s some more of that childish Libism! Come on, boys, name calling?...
You kids are stuck in the outdated mindset that only whites can be racists and blacks are their eternal victims. And any white who fails to subscribe to your script of guilt-ridden apology is a card carrying KKK member. Lol… That’s some silly tired stuff. You boys need to evolve. You’re not very “progressive” at all.
Maybe you missed the part where I said that anyone –of either color- who votes race was a racist.
And I gotta say, it doesn’t speak very well of your intellectual prowess that you have succumb to all that programming that the Left has filled your heads with –and you continue to defend it even in the face of proof to the contrary! Listen to yourselves, you sound like angry children.

“You can lead a Liberal to knowledge but you can’t make them think.”

  12. But you’d fit right in with the blacks because you always see whitey as the problem and black racism as just fine.

  14. Skin color does not determine my evaluation of a person.

This is a lie. You apologist Libs see race more than anyone.
That would make you both an apologist and a lair.
