Confederacy of Dunces

Democrats call for a government take-over of U.S. oil refineries.

Hugo Chavez and Joe Kennedy smile.

Meanwhile, finally, Bush calls for more off-shore drilling, and not the kind that Ted Kennedy used to do.

  1. Drill away, make up for our mistakes in the last three decades. Following the left's plan of windfall profits tax (that go right back to consumers) and waiting (maybe forever) for alternative technologies to become effective and affordable will kill our way of life and our economy.

I respectfully disagree. From what I've read, there have been major oil spills as a result of drilling, and faulty pipe lines over the past 10 yrs. These are easily researched on line. It's also my understanding that it would be about 10 yrs. before we could reap benefits from new drilling. When will we see the light? Renewable, safe energy can be a reality. We just had a discussion on another post about the air car. We can do this. Bush had the opportunity to lead this country on this issue right after 9/11. Once again he dropped the ball. I think we would all agree that it was downright pathetic last month, watching Bush, hat in hand, begging the Saudis (home of Bin Laden, supporters of the Madrasah's)for help because the gas prices are climbing, and all the while the oil company's are making record profits. You want to remain captive to the whims of the Middle East oil giants, and the big oil companys? Then support more drilling and exploration, but as far as I'm concerned, my money is on the new technology.

You want to be patriotic? Then join the movement. There are things you can do right now. I've switched to high efficiency appliances. A tankless hot water heater and a front loading washer. I wash in cold water. I drive a car that averages 35 mpg. I stopped using trash bags (oil based product), I have canvas bags that I use when grocery shopping, I recycle and buy recycled products. I'm vigilant about leaving lights and appliances on when not needed. We, as a country really need to get behind this and break the strangle hold of the fossil fuel barons.

  5. Let’s hear Lib Dave’s views on the Dems Chavez-ing of industry.
And be sure to include the old Lib Commie line about it being for the “greater good”.

I could write it for ya if ya want, DD! Lol…

  6. Bob,

You really want to comment about President's giving in to Saudis? Pleeeeasssseeee save me that argument. #1 giver-into the Saudis was Bill Clinton.

I also like how Bush is supposed to turn a downward moving economy at 9/11 into an economy where we develop the greatest gains in alternative energy. Shouldn't that have been done during the peak economic times in the 90s? But somehow it is all Bush's fault.

    Sounds about right.

10 years before we reap the benefits of drilling? We'd gain the benefits the day the crude was in a pipeline hitting the US refineries. As the pipeline is already built, the only time it would take is to get to the crude (which could take 100 years if we lets the Libs take everything to court). So the delay would be on the Libs side, not the technology or ability.

Your money probably is on the new technology Bob. The Air Car you speak about is built with solely glue. You think that's very environmentally friendly? Let alone how it'll never pass US safety requirements to be on the road.

I guess you just missed that key point in Popular Mechanics.

Slap! Lol… Yeah, Bush inherited a declining economy, 9/11 and TWO wars. That’s a lot for any country to endure in such a short period. But somehow it’s all his fault and he messed up neglecting to make expensive advances in technology and the environment –which should be left to private industry, btw. And then he also caused Hurricane Katrina and the mortgage mess. Uh, yeah.

Hell, if we’re gonna start attributing everything to the president then King George should be heralded as a hero for saving our country from utter collapse during these hard times! His face should be put on Mt. Rushmore! …but not if the bitter Hurt Feelings Lying Libs get to write the history books the way they have spun these events in order to paint him poorly and seize power.

  8. Randal- Jonas- Dave

Randal, you always sound like a bumper sticker, but you never address the facts.

Jonas- We can go back even farther than that. Carter wanted to change our direction with regards to energy. Reagan scrapped that.
Also, please read page 20 of todays Times. "Oil drilling no shore thing" and "Bush & Dems clash on drilling". I wonder why Gil posts news from Fox on this issue, but disregards news from his own paper. Hmmmm.

As for the air car being all glue, I guess you didn't finish your research project. They plan to have one that will meet U.S. standards by 2010.

Dave- You seem to be in front of the pack on this one, but you have to admit, R and Jonas are entertaining.

  9. Gee, after coming onto this scene pretending to be objective and reasonable, it didn’t take long for Bob to resort to taking his dishonest pointers from Dishonest Dave.
Wake me up when you bring something of substance, Boring Bob.

Oh, but hey, BB, how didja like the part of that article where the obstructive, anti-progress Dems were called obstructionists for continuing to block domestic drilling even in this time of need? Lol…

And you never did answer me about how you think your soldier son would feel about you discounting and undermining all he has so bravely worked for. Heck, you’re a regular Cindy Sheehan, stabbing your boy in the back.

I don't recall you ever asking me how my son feels about my opposition to the war. Would you please refer me to the post where you asked that question?

And I'd also like to know why you feel it necessary to start name calling. It shows a lack of maturity.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I just call em as I see em, B.
Actually, Dishonest Dave started the name calling and abrasive tone on this blog and we’ve just kept going with it since. You can always count on a slimy Lib to do that to a place.

I couldn’t find it. It’s here somewhere, I just saw it again yesterday. Maybe have gotten bumped off the bottom to the archives.
So why don’t you just tell us here?

Yea. Im still waiting Randal. Wheres that post? Got bumped? I dont think so. I haven't been posting here that long. Figures you couldn't find it because you never asked that question. Now who's the liar Randal?

But I dont mind answering the question Randal. My son is well aware of my oposition to the war, and he respects that. He is also aware of the fact that I support the troops. Should I forward him your posts on how "we are not personaly affected by the war, Randal"? Maybe I should forward those posts to some of the guys recovering at Walter Reed too. You OK with that Randal? You think they'd be in agreement with you?

Here's one of your quotes "And when we get closer to the 60,000 war dead from that Dem war Vietnam, then we can start talking seriously about the number of casualties from this war."

Should we share that one with the Iraq vets, Randal? Are you proud of that statement?

  16. How about you bl*w Dave if I find it, BB? We got a deal?

I stand by every word I have ever posted anywhere.

Your boy fighting for our country while you’re fighting against it is like a married couple that cancels out each others votes.
You are Mr. Cindy Sheehan. I’ll bet he is ashamed of you and doesn’t tell his buds what you think. Nah, I know this for a fact. How’s that make you feel, BB, to stab your own son in the back and undermine all he has so bravely worked for? -heck, has risked his very life for! Could hardly blame the kid if he came home and shot you, ya know? Not that I’m saying that he should or anything… just who could blame him if he did? It’s a heavy load to be ashamed of one’s own father.

KKK… har har… That never gets old, DD.
Leave it to a Lib like Dave to look down his smug nose at those less educated or employed.
See, this is another place where Righties got it all over you slimy Libs; we appreciate ANY honest working person, regardless of their station, race, class, education, etc. When it comes right down to it, filthy Libs like Dave are really the bigoted haters. He just proved this beyond a doubt without me even typing a single word.

  17. Randal- Dave

Randal- whats up with you? Are you a 14 year old? That last post was amazingly vicious and imature in its content. Are you on medication? Can't you debate a topic like an adult? You have failed to show me where you posted the initial question, because you were caught in a lie. You then try to defend yourself by making a comment about Dave, that I would expect to hear from a 14 year old. I sure hope you aren't the standard of the Republican Party. If you are, God help us all.

That being said, I answered your question. Apparently it's your assumption that all in the military support the invasion and occupation of Iraq. I guess that would account for the record suicide rates among servicemen?
You need to get out more Randal. You need to talk to some of these soldiers to see how they really feel about whats going down. Of course the spin doctors will try to convince you otherwise. They will lie about the Pat Tillmans and the Jessica Lynchs to stir up false patriots like the Randals of this world. And you Randal, will buy right into it. Sheep led to the slaughter. Funny Randal. You trash Cindy Sheehan, you trash me, but I don't hear you trashing Mrs. Tillman. Is she also a treasonous turncoat for accusing the government of using the death of her son for propeganda? Who's the real enemy Randal? Those who fight for the truth, or those who perpetuate lies to get people like you to wrap themselves in the flag and send other peoples kids off to war, so you can live your comfy, stuffed like a pig, life style.
I am very proud of my son's accomplishments, Randal. And I can assure you, without a doubt, that my son is very proud of me. As a part time professional musician, I had the opportunity this past Feb. to perform, at my sons request, for American and Australian troops at a private function. I ended the night with "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda". A song about a battle between the Turks and the Aussies during WWI. If you could have seen the look of pride on my sons face after that performance, you would never again have to ask that question.

You still have yet to answer my questions Randal. Would you be proud to have your statement "And when we get closer to the 60,000 war dead from that Dem war Vietnam, then we can start talking seriously about the number of casualties from this war.", read by the servicemen at Walter Reed?

I leave you with this quote from American Artist John Sloan "Patriotism, love of country, is very different from love for the government"

Dave- as always, it's a pleasure sharing thoughts and ideas with you and Dingo.

One day you boys will learn not to mess with me.

I expect your apology to be swift, sorrowful and sincere. You may begin now.
(And then you should apologize to your son.)

You should take a lesson from what you have just witnessed here, Dishonest Dave. Maybe then you wouldn’t have to always grasp and pick at petty nits in your pathetic obsessive desperation to “get one” in on me. Lol…

  20. bob, i owe you a response, hope to get to it this afternoon...

  21. Randal

I apologize. You did in fact ask me that, and now you have my answer. As for apologizing to my son, an apology is owed to him not by me, but by all of the false patriots, like you, who took this country to war under false pretense. While you are at it, you can apologise to Cindy Sheehan, Mary Tillman, and all of the wounded at Walter Reed.

You still have yet to answer my questions Randal. Would you be proud to have your statement "And when we get closer to the 60,000 war dead from that Dem war Vietnam, then we can start talking seriously about the number of casualties from this war.", read by the servicemen at Walter Reed?
And also, your thoughts on Mary Tillmans statements about the administrations use of her sons death. I'm waiting Randal.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Fair enough, I’ll answer you question.

I don’t generally go looking to insult brave members of our military, particularly the injured. But my comment is a very fair statement when discussing this war as compared to other wars with filthy Libs bent on scorekeeping our wardead as pawns in their cheap political games. (They are the real problem but I don’t see you harping them. Hell, you play this despicable game yourself.) So, yes, my statement is not only true but fair as well. But I would not print it on a postcard and send it to wounded soldiers.

And I would never apologise to the likes of Cindy Sheehan. I would be much more inclined to spit in her filthy treasonous face for using her dead son as a political pawn and to build her own celebrity.
    You happy now?

And I still say your boy doesn't tell his buds about your views on the war. If he were proud of you and your stance, he would. But I am sure he is not. So he keeps it quiet. Of this I feel certain.

  24. Randal. Think of what you are saying. For you to claim to know my sons thoughts and beliefs, just based on the fact that he is military is the height of audacity.
Lets take this a step at a time Randal. Have you ever met my son? Have you ever spoken to my son? Do you know my sons name? Do you even know what my son looks like? Is my son black or white? What are his religious beliefs? His political affiliations? You see Randal. You know absolutely nothing about my son other than the fact that he is military, and based on that, you claim to know his thought process, and his feelings for his father.
Do you realize how absurd that is?
I know plenty of military, Randal. I talk to them just about every day. My daughter in law is also military, and I work with military. If you think they all support this war and this president, you are living in a fantasy world.

Thanks for answering the question about revealing your statements to the soldiers at Walter Reed. I was right to assume you would back down on that statement. You never did answer my question about Mary Tillman. She was publicly crital of the Bush administration, and the military, for using hers sons death as propaganda and a recruiting tool for a war (Iraq) that her son did not believe in. Since you find it manly to want to spit in the face of a woman who's son died in Iraq, would you spit in Mary Tillmans face too?
I'd realy like you to answer that one RANDAL

    ReplyDelete
  25. You boys are still talking about me? Lol…

Enough with the silly questions, BB. I didn’t back down on anything. I answered the one and I stand by what I said. (And I noticed how you sidestepped the critical part where you disgustingly scorekeep our wardead in order to bash Bush. Btw, I “get” this just fine, DD. And it is despicable. Yet in your backward dishonest way you call it “supporting the troops”. Lol… ) You boys are attempting to justify your hurt feelings treason by challenging my support of our soldiers and the war. You are failing. It’s getting old. And this isn’t about me.

And one need not know your boy to feel fairly certain that he does not share with his fellow soldiers on patrol the fact that his dad is back home undermining and discounting everything they are so bravely risking their lives for. Unless he is some knid of moron (maybe the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree?) I very much doubt that he would undermine morale like that. I find it much more likely that he is ashamed of you. Or at the very least he just keeps quiet about the whole thing.

I recall back at the height of the Sheehan treason saga there was an email making the rounds about a young soldier about to leave for Iraq who was upset by the whole spectical. On the eve of his deployment he wrote his mother a letter which said: (paraphrased) “Mom, please, I beg you, no matter what should happen to me –if I should get killed- please do not shame my memeory by carrying on like that Sheehan woman.”

I suspect may of our brave boys –yours included- share similar sentiments. You should take this lesson to heart, BB.

  27. You can all bicker and sling comments back and forth but that will not help me with thae fact that I am now averaging $170.00 per week in fuel cost for my work van, a van that I have to use everyday in my trade.

We need to regulate the oil industry, and put a cap on prices. I cannot jack up my rate, if I do it's see you later we'll find somebody else to use.
