Good News for the McCain Campaign

"In a bitterly divided 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled Thursday in Boumediene v. Bush that alien enemy prisoners, waging a jihad against the American people and captured by our military in a war authorized by Congress, have a right — under our Constitution — to petition our courts for their release. So doing, the Court invalidated laws it had only recently implored Congress to enact, laws that provided these prisoners with generous protections never previously extended to enemy operatives in American history."

Read the the whole thing.

This is not an argument that Obama wants to have, yet he's saddled with it.

  2. In addition to what David just said, this is the same Supreme Court that handed Bush the presidency.

  3. Why are Liberals forever trying to extend rights reserved only for U.S. citizens to others and even to our sworn enemies?

Talk about Liberal misplaced sympathies. Maybe they really are trying to bring down America from within? ...without firing a shingle shot.

  5. wow, diano, how about we ship a few of them up here, need some neighbors? Let's see, a couple win their freedom, sue us, reach a mega settlement, return to their foreign lands as heros, used as propaganda, AND, happily use the funds in their settlement to plan future attacks. Sorry folks, not interested. Tell CNN that GITMO's not worth reporting on.

  6. I remember years ago, reading about this poor group of saps. I think this story explains why we need to allow these prisoners their day in court.

"In late 2003, the Pentagon quietly decided that 15 Chinese Muslims detained at the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, could be released. Five were people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time, some of them picked up by Pakistani bounty hunters for U.S. payoffs. The other 10 were deemed low-risk detainees whose enemy was China's communist government -- not the United States, according to senior U.S. officials.

More than 20 months later, the 15 still languish at Guantanamo Bay, imprisoned and sometimes shackled, with most of their families unaware whether they are even alive."

Now come on. Is this what our country is about? OK. You lock up suspects. Fair enough. But don't we as Americans have an obligation to at least fairly try to prove their guilt or innocence? Isn't that what's supposed to separate us from the Hitlers of the world?
The Nazi's did this kind of shit.
What are we afraid of? That the truth will come out? That it will come to light that many of the Gitmo's were sold to the military by bounty hunters out to make a buck? Why are we afraid to let these men have their day in court?

  7. Oh brother. Now preserving America makes up Nazis.

Who else is not at all surprised that Lib Dishonest Dave would defend this ruling against America (/Bush)? Anyone?

Great editorial today, G. Your Radical Lib cohorts on the Editorial Board must have absolutely hated it. Cue another editorial in the coming days that will come down exactly contrary to this one by singing the praises of this activist ruling.

These treasonous Lib activist justices that have turned our Constitution on its head should be removed from the bench, by force if necessary. Clearly they have abused their authority and betrayed their country by participating in political gamesmanship.

The Left wants our enemies tried in civilian courts where they are much more likely to receive preferential treatment due to the Lib Media’s ongoing efforts to sway public (potential juries) opinion to be more sympathetic to the terrorists. …all for their hatred of Bush.

Yep, just as they promised so long ago, the Treasonous Left is determined to bring down America from within without firing a single shot. Seems they have grown impatient and have resorted to aiding and enabling our enemies and using our congress and high courts to implement their agenda. Now they are prepared to elect as our next president a Surrendercrat and Muslim sympathizer who has opposed our war with Radical Islam from the start.

The pending Supreme Court appointments are what this next presidential election is all about.

Wake the F up, folks, before it’s too late. Clearly not all “change” is for the better. Some change is downright anti-America.
