Palin = Thomas

NRO's Rich Lowry captures much about why the left hates Sarah Palin.

"It’s her misfortune to be a pioneer with the wrong ideology. So much bile was directed at Clarence Thomas because he was the “wrong” kind of black man. Pro-life, pro-gun and a down-the-line, if populist, conservative, Palin is a traitor to her gender and thus encounters the sort of fury always directed at apostates."

UPDATE: Byron York on "Why The Palin Story Matters" and why the pro-choice left just doesn't get it. Not being able to listen to an evangelical Christian without sneering is going to help Democrats in this election.

As such, she’s the object of the cultural disdain of a Left that loves the working class in theory, but is mystified or offended by its lifestyle and conservative values in reality. If there’s ever been an exemplar of the rural America that, in Barack Obama’s telling, “bitterly” clings to its guns and religion, it’s Sarah Palin.

A popular liberal talk-radio host calls her a “bimbo,” a Washington Post columnist compares her to Caligula’s horse, and the left-wing blogosphere goes on a demented jag about how her fifth son, Trig, is really the son of her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol. The lunacy forced the Palins to issue a statement that Bristol is pregnant, setting off a feeding frenzy from the same press that went out of its way to protect the privacy of John Edwards.

So much for any hope of fair and balanced tolerance from the hate-filled Angry Left.

Hate. The buzz word of right wing media. Why the left HATES Palin? I dont hate Palin. I don't think most reasonable people hate Palin. We may not agree with her politics, but hate her? Why would we? Like McCain, and like most people from the right, we hardly even know her. This is nothing new. The Hannitys, Limbaughs and O'Reileys have been accusing the left of being hate mongers for years now. They would love people to believe the left is grouded in hate. We were accused of hating our country because we opposed the war in Vietnam. Even after the truth came out about the Gulf of Tonkin. About exagerated body counts. We're accused of hating Bush, America, and the military because of our opposition to the invasion and occupation of Iraq. A war that was proven to be based on faulty inteligence. It's getting to the point that whenever you question the right, the question is asked- "why do you hate us?" Give me one example of where a member of the Obama campaign, the Democratic party, or a legitimate representative of a left wing media organization has declared their hate of Sarah Palin.

Palin > Obama

1) More qualified than a guy with one term as asenator, no executive experience and way overly liberal

2) Did I mention Extreme left? Haven't we seen failures due to presidents on the extreme side of the spectrum?

3) Picked by McCain because she's got a future and isn't afraid to do battle for the good of the country.

4) It's clear that the left may be out of touch with women in general.

5) New face in the republican party, and, after watching the speech last night, I believe she has a great future.

bob, the answer is clear, obama and the democratic party didn't need to do anything, their bulldogs in the liberal media are taking care of it for them.

It is highly dishonest to deny or dismiss the level of hatred which forms the basis of the Left politics these days, particularly when it is so unquestionably apparent. The LibDems spout their bigoted intolerance for all that is Right from all corners, from the Obama campaign trail to Hollywood to the floor of Congress to blogs like this one. Anyone who claims to have never witnessed such expressed raw hatred from the resident Libs here is a liar. There is good reason they have earned the moniker “the Angry Left”.

Obama = Affirmative Action Candidate

1) Totally unqualified for the job.

2) Radical Left-wing Socialist zealot, maybe Muslim sympathizer.

3) Picked by Radical Libs who control the Democrat Party to appeal/pander to the Far Left base and brainwashed/ignorant masses.

4) He and his tired backwards Liberalism are out of touch with the majority of Americans on just about every issue.

5) A hollow candidate transparently attempting to appeal to the fears of a minority group that the Left has whipped into shrill emotional discontent by waging class and racial warfare while buying their enduring loyalty by showering them with $ocialist wealth-spreading favor$ and promising them even more.

6) Such LibDem Divide & Conquer politics of division are despicable. Not much “change” or “unity” in dividing our nation further for his/their political advantage.

Bob:

Read Gloria Steinam's column in the LA Times. The left hates her because she is a real woman, and because she is pro life and pro gun. That is not a zealot!

Also, she is by far the greatest communicator in this election, and if you didn't notice, she was not always speaking from a teleprompter last night, neither was Giuliani.

The "radical" left is going to be sucking wind pretty soon.

Diano:

Would you ever debate Sarah Palin?

Sarah Palin was awesome! She really took it the filthy Donkeys! She looked presidential!

And she was funny! I loved her smart-alecky smirk and wry smile!
There’s nothing hotter in this world than a smart and funny hot Rightie chick!

1) Obama's foreign policy experience is no more than a one week summer trip to the middle east and eurpoe. that and unconditional meetings with manny jihad. why not just stick your head in one of those farmer picture walls at linvilla, I think it would have the same effect.

2) she has faith and doesn't abandon it, good for her! It was my biggest and easiest criticism of kerry in 2004, how easily he could dump his religion for the good ol' democratic cause.

3) Interesting, seems similar to Teddy Roosevelt at the turn of the century, not liked within the party especially by party king-maker mark hanna, however the people made him immensely popular. She's got a clear future here that clearly fears the left if they're jumping to every scandal you can think of and roland martin at cnn is ready to go to tears over the "community organizer" comments last night. She's good.

4)you must work and confide in highly liberal types. I'm seeing the opposite. do you want to simply state they are wrong? my sister's battling the men's club in wall street and is delighted in the prospects of Vice President Palin.

5) Ann coulter has never spoken for me, and God help me she never will. Palin seems to have more class than that and a comparison seems ridiculous. Unless you want me to compare Obama to michael moore I'll stop on this one.

Scott

I'll try to find the Steinam column. Does she say she hates Palin? Just because I disagree with someone politicaly, doesn't mean I hate them. I rarely agree with you or Gil, but I don't "hate" either one of you. I've never met you, but on a personal level, I think Gil is a great guy. I'm still waiting for someone to show me where a major representative from the left has stepped forward and claimed to hate Palin.

Just read Steinam. Doesn't sound at all like hate to me. I thought she was pretty fair, and nowhere did she say she "hates" Palin. Maybe you missed the point of my post. For years, conservative talk show hosts have used the word "hate" as a tool to cast a bad light on those who oppose their politics. It's simply not true. To say the left "hates" Palin is nothing more than a meaningless generalization designed to influence the opinions of those who can't think for themselves. Isn't it possible for someone to disagree, speak out, point out inconsistencies, and campaign against her without "hating" her? Still waiting for someone to show me where a major liberal spokesperson has claimed to hate Palin. Anyone?

Gil- What the **** was I watching last night? Was that a convention or a feel good, Hallmark, infomercial?
"She's a mother, a moose hunter, a maverick" This comes off as so fake, it's like watching Bob Roberts! Who are they going after? The WWF crowd? What an insult.

Anyway, Im leaving for vacation this afternoon. Ten days in Spain. I'll try to stay in touch if I can find internet access. I'll miss the daily give and take.

sigh.

1) Obama's got nothing in foreign policy. His statements are ridiculous, yet the media's to busy falling in love to call him on it. Meeting without preconditions? The surge won't work? Why is there now a timetable? Because the necessary surge did it's damn job - the same one Barry was against.

2)She has morals, something your presidential candidate lacks. Her religion will NEVER compare to the one Barry congregated in for 20+ years until a certain "GOD DAMN AMERICA" clip arrived on youtube, remember that? 20 years of that or should we truly believe that barry never heard it before? Or was he in the back doing his crack to help sell his book?

3) Roosevelt would have wanted energy independence. Based upon his dealings with Germany at the end of his second term, it's clear he would never want to be pushed around by another country. Tapping ANWR is not exploiting, it's common sense, as opposed to shoving our thumbs up or rears and waiting to who knows when for the day electric cars become legit. Maybe Barry should buy us all horses.

4)yes, another big government control - let's please bring this into the arena. She's smarter because she believes in strong moral and conservative ideals, smaller government, and doesn't buy iunto the liberal media in a candidiate clearly less qualified than the GOP VP candidate. Besides, she's paid very well, in line with her competition. My line of work, same story. $8 Million is a lot of pot money to throw away.

5)And Obama's overly liberal stances are right in line with tubby's. Should we keep going?

I am sorry for using the term hate. It is that I have been conditioned by the radical left that all disagreements have been redefined as hate. Example, if you don't agree that homosexuality is normal or you are agaisnt same sex marriage, you get tagged a hater, bigot, etc...

Oh, stop, BB. The hatred emanating from the Angry Left as they assail Palin is apparent.
You can’t honestly say that you don’t sense the raw hatred for her and all that is Right from the likes of Dishonest Dave.

I find it difficult to believe that DDD has any friends, let alone any Repub friends.

And response to Palin brought $10 mill into the Mc/P coffers, not $1 mill, DDD. That beats the $8 mill collected by Obama bin Biden.

Scott,

Been a while.

I think you are right that there is too much use of the word "hate" in political discourse. It benefits no one to close one's mind. I recall you and I were able to disagree at a judicial debate a while back and still shake hands afterward. We we disagreed without disliking one another.

I also like John McCain. I'm not going to vote for him. But, I still resppect him.

As for Palin,I honestly don't know much about her, save the recent media frenzy.

Mike Farrell, one of those Dems you guys all hate

It's not "tagging" it's "by definition". The people 50+ years ago denying rights to blacks... blahblah... History has shown they were.

It's not "by definition"; it is by apologist Liberal tagging.

And still hung up on the distant past.
History has "shown" no such thing.
