Yuvel Levin on The Meaning of Sarah Palin.
Money Q:
"The reaction to Palin revealed a deep and intense cultural paranoia on the Left: an inclination to see retrograde reaction around every corner, and to respond to it with vile anger. A confident, happy, and politically effective woman who was also a social conservative was evidently too much to bear. The response of liberal feminists was in this respect particularly telling, and especially unpleasant."
Read the whole thing. Conservatives come in for some criticism too.
"A confident, happy.."

Are we to feel sorry for Palin? She may have been confident, but that doesn't mean she was competent. If you want to play in the major league, be prepared to take your licks. Look at how Palin tried to paint Obama. She took the gloves off. I don't hear anyone crying over that. Palin was in way over her head, and a couple of slow pitch interviews revealed a "not ready for primetime" candidate. McCain didn't pick her because he thought she was right for the job. He picked her to get a bump in the polls, and to enhance his "maverick" image. For him, it was a big mistake. For liberal feminists, it was the best thing that could have happened.
