The AIG Mess

The Democrats blow it and look like arrogant imbeciles in the process.

Gil, why does this have to say, "Democrats?" The entire government stepped into this one, beginning when the previous administration pushed for AIG to be bailed out in the first place. I know it's easy to spew on Prez Obama and his lack of decision-making skills and leadership experience, but in this case... you're, "just a bit outside." (Bob Uecker, "Major League")DNE

Because it's the Dems, like Chris Dodd and Barack Obama who wrote the amendment approving the retention bonuses (Dodd) and signed the bill (Obama) that they are now are condemning AIG execs for taking. That's why.

Some idiot Republicans voted for the bill and are making the same noises but... it's the Dems who are in charge and are refusing to take responsibility for their actions.

Point to Gil.

I just read on Wikipedia that Dodd won't run again in 2010, is that true? Makes sense, obviously, from his fun with Freddie/Fannie/Countrywide. Also likely related to why he's taking any kind of blame for AIG - why let any defending incumbent or newly elected president take the fall?

No. Dodd hasn't announced he won't seek reelection in 2010. If he did, that would be BIG NEWS!

But he is in trouble, polling badly and all that.

Your right. Another point to you!

I read it wrong. It said:

"Dodd announced in a letter to the Federal Election Commission that he was no longer a candidate for the Senate in 2010,[13] although this action was likely done so he could transfer funds from his re-election bid to his presidential campaign, and not to signal that he would not run for re-election."

A lot of people and polls are against him running in 2010.
