Gil - Interesting. Goldberg defends Limbaugh, but ends up calling for PBS to resurrect Firing Line, to show that conservatives can also be intellectuals. That tells me that he really isn't comfortable with Limbaugh.I understand Limbaugh's explanation for wanting Obama to fail, but I'm not buying it. Combined with his comment "should we bend over and grab our ankles just because Obama's father is black", and his constant reference to Obamas middle name during the campaign, reveal a much deeper issue.Limbaugh also keeps repeating that "Liberals" wanted Bush to fail! I'm still waiting for Limbaugh to tell us what liberal called for Bush's failure. If a president fails, we, the people fail. It's that simple. I wanted Bush to be a smashing success. If things went well under Bush, I might still have a decent 401K. My friends might still be employed. But they didn't go well. The people of this country voted for Obama, because the Republicans have failed. They had their 8 years, and look where we are now. The writer says Obama wants to create a Euro style welfare state. Did Obama state that to be one of his goals? As an Independant, I'm happy with Limbaugh being called the leader of the conservative party, and I think most Democrats are too.
How a dope like Limbaugh can have the success and following he has mystifies me. Hoping the president fails is outright unAmerican, even if you are just saying it to grab headlines.
