Dems Spin Protests Badly

Max Shultz reports on a townhall protest in Maryland.

Democrats and the White House are trying to portray the people who show up at these events as right-wing automotons and kooks sent by their puppet masters in the pharmaseutical and insurance industries.

That spin ain't working because it is so obviously untrue. There are too many people showing up for it to be a phony or manufactured rebellion and poll numbers reflect the country's real dissatisfaction with Democratic reform plans.

The new tactic from the White House is to urge members of unions like SEIU and the AFL-CIO to show up at these meetings and "punch back twice as hard." That isn't working either because their goonishness is being caught on videotape.

Back to the drawing board.

  1. And why does Spencer have a problem with the unions voicing their opinions? Was it okay for only those opposed to health care reform to yell and scream?

Here's a big shout out to say we need this now!

  2. If the White House believes that they have more support than not for Universal health Care, all that is necessary is for the administration to produce the number of emails and telephone calls received in favor of there health care project. One does have to ask though, why, there was over whelming crowd approval when anyone spoke negatively of the health care bill?

  4. An active and vocal minority can produce more noise, letters, calls, etc. to generate a false impression of strength.

The climate change deniers are so weak in actually support that they resorted to FORGING letters from liberal groups in a attempt to convince congressmen that there was resistance to climate change legislation.

It's time to weed out the corporate shills from the genuinely concerned voters.

  5. Why was it ok in the past for Pelosi, Clinton and others to state that public dissent was your duty as an American, but now it is wrong? Is it because they had Bush derangement syndrome? These liberals are coming unglued.

I was listening to Rush while on my way to Court, and he had an interesting (smart) caller on health care. He questioned why is it that the libs are telling us that our current system is broken and unsustainable, yet they also say that we get to keep the plans that we have... So very strange.

  6. Scott - I was listening to Rush the other day too. He was discussing the White House web site request that people forward misleading health care emails and web sites. Rush spun this into - "if you overhear people talking about health care, and they are giving misinformation, the White House wants you to send them the names of those people." I don't have a problem with people voicing their opinions at town meetings. I think it's healthy. I DO have a problem with Limbaugh lying to his listenes about such an important issue. It's a scare tactic and it's un-American.

  7. There is a difference between dissent and disruption. These right-wing protesters are not only "unglued" but are intimidating violence. One even brought a gun and talked about enforcing the First Amendment with the Second. There have been threats of violence against Congressmen.

When Bush ran, he wouldn't even allow people into his events without first signing a loyalty oath.

It's no surprise that a Rush fan can't recognize an idiotic argument.
There is a difference between changes to the "system" and an individual keeping his current "plan". The point is that the current plans suck, but if you are too stupid to switch to a better plan, you can keep your current coverage. The bean counters at the insurance company can get between you and your doctor to deny you coverage, or claim you have a pre-existing condition.
Getting more people insured so they can get preventative care will SAVE money by reducing more expensive emergency down the line.

Getting to visit "Christ" sooner is not a good health care plan.

  8. The Obamacare plan will guarantee that you will see Christ earlier, especially if you are elderly or infirm. That is where this is going and Obama has publicly stated that it would be ok to give a pain pill to an elderly person instead of interventional health care.

The secular humanists do not respect life, and there will be a time when we will see health care withheld from those who will no longer be able to contribute to society if they succeed. It is sad that you don't acknowledge that. Also, there will be much greater govt intervention in our lives if this plan is passed, along with the loss of freedom.

    This is not good.

Bob- the Rush caller asked a very specific question.

  9. Please anon-diano and Bob,
Do you and all the other Obamaholics think the rest of us can't see through all this self-aggrandizing spin? Our fearless leader has fallen in love with his own press clippings and that narcissism makes him very prickly about criticism.
Today's Town Hall in New Hampshire was by invitation only, so of course none of the slobbering sychophants present had anything contrary to say.
How does America move forward when the elected President, supposedly of all the people, refuses to permit his policies to undergo public debate and scrutiny?

  10. Anon - the point I was trying to make is that its OK to voice an opinion, but when your opinion is based on misinformation being spewed out on a daily basis by the likes of Limbaugh, then it becomes a problem.

  11. Scott - Your claim that Obama said he would give a pill to someone elderly instead of treatment, is a good example of someone misrepresenting what was said.
This is what Politifact.com says about your claim:

Looking at the full transcript, it’s clear that Obama voluntarily brought up the example of having to choose between a surgery and a pill. But he did so as a hypothetical example of difficult decisions about medical treatment for older patients. He was not advocating, much less requiring, bureaucrats to make a potentially life-ending decision for a centenarian.

I would suggest that you research this for yourself at Politifact.com

  12. Bob:

The very people that Obama has surrounded himself with are self proclaimed secularists and communists. If health care reform is passed we will be like Britain, and Britain's system rations health care to people that are productive, not the unproductive. Also, since no one is talking about the number of uninsured that will be picked up by insurance if it passes, I have heard that only 17% of the uninsured will gain health insurance in the next 5 years if this is passed. Have you heard the same thing?

  13. Scott - Again a misrepresentation. You say "The very people that Obama has surrounded himself with are self proclaimed secularists and communists." I don't have a problem with anyone being secular, although I don't know who these people are. Name a few for me. And who are the self proclaimed communists that you say Obama has surrounded himself with? Name a few of them for me too. The only one I can think of is Bill Ayers. So have at it. Name names to support your statement.

And I don't recall Obama requesting a system similar to Great Britains system. Where did you hear or see that?
