The Birds

It's OK to kill them if you're a cat or you do it by windmill. Not if you do it by oil or powerline.

We will pass a cap-and-trade bill that will cost the American people billions of dollars to solve a problem that most scientists aren't even sure exists. The country is in the best of hands.

We will not permit responsible debate on this speculative theory of global warming. It's much easier to just marginalize the people who dare question our self-righteous good intentions.

What makes you possibly think we would be concerned about the thousands of birds we are killing? After all, we are the ones who truly care about protecting the environment. And as long as you care, what you do doesn't really matter. The country is in the best of hands.

As America's intellectual elites, we are not burdened by common sense; that's a limitation reserved for the common man. We know what's best for you and we have our hand-picked, multi-cultural, celebrity messiah to make it so. The country is in the best of hands.

Hypocrisy is a problem for the little people, not deep thinkers like us. We will simply spend another billion dollars training the birds to recognize our superior green solutions for the planet. Because finally change has come, and at long last the country is in the best of hands.

I'll let Bob or anon-iano pull up stats suggesting that fewer birds die from wind turbines than by power plant emissions.

I believe randal coined the key term when discussing this issue a year or so ago - 'Bird Huggers'
