Happy Veterans Day

A salute to a vet who wanted to salute others. My print column is up.

Gil - Great story. The part where Taylor had to literally lie about his finances to get medical care for his son, was heartbreaking. Another good argument for universal health care.

Hey! Could this be the new Republican health reform plan? Rely on the kindness of strangers?
Interesting concept.

Steve - My boy is Chris Mathews. Beck is the guy I'm forced to watch when I visit my father. Do you tell your father what he's allowed to watch?

I'll argue this one since you seem to know everything he says. Matthews is easily biased - remember how he gets those funny feelings every time obama speaks.

Steve - You sound like a parrot. Seem's as though everyone thats critical of Mathews can only cite one thing. The tingling comment. Thats your proof that Mathews is biased? Pretty weak Steve. Can't you do better than that? As for Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity etc, I don't know everything they say, but some of what they say is so outragious, it's hard to ignore. But hey, I do admit trying to be informed by all sides. If that's a crime, I'm guilty.

but you come on here weekly bringing up things beck says as if it was important. you clearly are a regular listener in denial. Don't give me excuses, come clean! I will too, I listen to 610WIP daily - they're biased - to Philadelphia Sports!

Steve - You say "but you come on here weekly bringing up things beck says as if it was important" Well it is important.
It's important because people like Beck, Hannity and Limbaugh have hijacked the Republican party and are now the most influential voices in the party. How powerful are they? Recently Michael Steele made this comment about Limbaugh -"Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh — his whole thing is entertainment. He has this incendiary — yes, it's ugly.” He was on the Limbaugh show shortly after, telling Rush how sorry he was for making that statement. Steve, this is the National Chairman of the Republican Party! Now you tell me who's calling the shots. Who speaks the loudest for conservatives, Steve?
