More Trials and Tribulations

Krauthammer disagrees with Taylor big time

When I saw this article (drivel) in the Washington Post, I knew you'd post it.
The idea that New York is suddenly a bigger target and people are less safe is just rampant paranoia and fear mongering.

But, here's where Krauthammer has his biggest flaw:

"Finally, there's the moral logic. It's not as if Holder opposes military commissions on principle. On the same day he sent KSM to a civilian trial in New York, Holder announced he was sending Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, mastermind of the attack on the USS Cole, to a military tribunal."

The US Supreme Court has already ruled on this point, twice. The Cole attack occurred outside of the US, where no civilian court exists. The 9/11 attack occurred on US soil, and with a civilian court available, it has precedence over a military tribunal. That is the law, which has been unanimously reaffirmed by the Supreme Court.

Do you honestly think that 12 American jurors are going to find this guy innocent?

Well, some of have more faith in our country, principle and ideals. It's not really much of a principle when people like you guys want to abandon it out of irrational fear.

Does the name O.J. Simpson ring any bells?

Are you saying we should dismantle the entire jury system, and just go directly from capture to torture to execution with a tribunal show-trial tossed in somewhere?
Do you have OJ Derangement Syndrome too?

If KSM gets convicted, with none of your paranoid fantasies occurring, will you be able to handle it? Or will you strap some explosives to yourself and go to NYC just to make a point?

Because, it sounds like you will be terribly disappointed if nothing bad happens.
