i find myself drinking less as well, but when I do have a drink, its usually an american craft beer where you can sit back and savor the product. yes, i have become a beer snob.
I should have mentioned the blog post in my last comment - I've bought beer at Wegman's in Warminster and Downingtown in the last year and it's SO much easier. I would assume with easier acess to beer to take home, DUI's could arguably be reduced. And cashiers should be competent enough to request and check ID's.
