After 30 Years, Death Penalty Dropped Against Annoying, Disgusting, Guilty-As-Sin Cop-Killer Mumia Abu Jamal

I guess enough was enough. And I said so here.

But it still makes me kind of sick, especially after reading comments like this:
"There is no question that justice is served when a death sentence from a misinformed jury is overturned," (Widener Law Prof. Judith) Ritter said. "Thirty years later, the district attorney's decision not to seek a new death sentence also furthers the interests of justice."
UPDATE: At least Maureen Faulkner, the wife of Daniel Faulkner and Wesley Cook's victim, was allowed to put things in perspective:
"My family and I have endured a three-decade ordeal at the hands of Mumia Abu-Jamal, his attorneys and his supporters, who in many cases never even took the time to educate themselves about the case before lending their names, giving their support and advocating for his freedom," Maureen Faulkner said Wednesday. "All of this has taken an unimaginable physical, emotional and financial toll on each of us."
Furthermore:
"The disgusting reality with the death penalty in Pennsylvania is that the fix is in before the hearing even begins," she said.

Faulkner also vowed to fight anyone who tries to extract special treatment for Abu-Jamal, advocating instead that he be moved to the general population after being taken off death row.

"I will not stand by and see him coddled, as he has been in the past," Faulkner said. "And I am heartened that he will be taken from the protective cloister he has been living in all these years and begin living among his own kind — the thugs and common criminals that infest our prisons."
As long as he dies in prison, some measure of justice will be served.

The 3rd District Court is the biggest waste of air on the earth. They are so far left they passed Mao on the way by. That one judge did everything he could to assure that this cop killing SOB was not put to death!
30 years and no death. Why even have a death penalty!

My condolences to the Faulkner family! I understand and respect your decision! God bless you!

I still would have preferred the death penalty for Wesley Cook.

Danny - "everyone of those folks beats Obama in the polling. Every single one! Even Caine 2 days after his resignation." Where did you see this poll? I'm trying to google it but I can't find anything to back up what you're saying.

Mrs. Faulkner mentioned this evening on the Michael Smerconish talk show that on December 9, 2011, 30 years to the day that Daniel Faulkner was murdered by Wesley Cook, that Mr. Cook, who prefers to be known as Abu Mumia Jabal, will be on a live feed from death row to the Constitution Center in Philadelphia for a question and answer session. Now with DA Williams' decision he'll have a lot to talk about. But hopefully he won't find all of the same privleges in the general population as he has enjoyed on death row. But, that said, Bob, what in the blazes are you talking about to Dannytheman. I don't see anything related whatsoever to your post in this Spencerblog. If you want to have private conversations that mean nothing to the readers of the post at hand why don't you try email?

Thanks for sharing, Bob... A classless set of comments for all to see, not that there is anything wrong with that... I heretofore respected the fact that we have disagreed on various things. But this kind of comment does not engender respect in any way...

I was angered at first when I heard the pursuit of a death sentence was being discontinued. When I thought further, I have to agree. Danny's family and friends need to heal - not have the wounds ripped open again with another hearing. People need to forget this piece of crap and leave his fate up to God, or Satan as should be this case. Each time another step is taken, he gets publicity and the Africa family babbles to the cameras again. Then Asner, the French and all the other blind believers take to the airwaves and rip at the wounds. Removing the spotlight from him will cause Wesley Cook more suffering than any death penalty could. And even if he were to receive death again, there would be another slew of appeals. He would die of old age anyway because PA just doesn't seem all that committed to enforcing the laws and sentences. So let him rot. His real judgment day is coming and God is on the side of Danny!

on a side note, has anyone seen Tigre Hill's Documentary "Barrel of a Gun"? I missed my opportunity when it was playing at the Ritz, and I'd love to watch it. I've heard nothing but good things about Hill's work.
