Why Violent Crime is Down
Charles Murray explains this graph:
... and he sez: "Keep locking 'em up."
(Note to my friend Bob: Murray is a resident scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute. But the graph comes from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, FBI Uniform Crime Reports. Which is to say Lynn Cheney had nothing to do with it.)

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that gun carry laws for concealed guns broke loose in early 90s with Florida and then others coming on board and following the success. Just wanted to add that tidbit. Criminals are less likely to attack if there is a chance of them being shot. I find most criminals are cowards.
il - I'm not going to argue with this. I believe in long term incarceration of violent criminals. And unlike you, I also believe in capital punishment for henious crimes, you bleeding heart liberal.
