Sympathy for T.O.

Call me a bleeding heart, but after reading this I feel sorry for Terrell Owens.

UPDATE: Look at the size of those mitts. No wonder he was such a great receiver.

From the story:

It's the sad old stereotypical song of the up-from-nothing black athlete: He let other people take care of things…
"I hate myself for letting this happen," he says. "I believed that they had my back when they said, 'You take care of the football, and we'll do the rest.' And in the end, they just basically stole from me."
He'd be even more sympathetic if he didn't blame everyone else for every bad thing that has happened to him. But then he wouldn't be T.O. if he didn't.

I can't feel bad for him, sorry. This is Philadelphia where we're dealt the toughest blows in Football.

Build a great team during the Buddy Ryan Era? Dump Buddy.

Get a Powerhouse team ready in Kotite's first year or two? Lose the great Jerome Brown. Randall breaks his leg and is never the same in Philadelphia?

Have great Talent drafted by Ryan and crew that formed one of the greatest defenses of all time? Watch Braman let 'em all walk, stumble through Kotite's time until Ray Rhodes comes on board

Draft decent sustainable talent during the Rhodes era in Dawkins, Trotter, Tre Thomas, Jermaine Mayberry. Bobby Taylor? Whatch the era fizzle out as Rhodes never had a real QB and gameday coaching was suspect.

Draft a real QB, Hire an offensive coach and bring in a REAL Defensive Coordinator? Watch the Coach not run the ball for several years, making his offense one-sided, while the defense had to carry the weight.

Solid team together in 2002, is this our year to win the SB? Watch a Tampa Bay team you've dominated for years come to the Vet, knock you out and take your Lombardi Trophy with a Worse Offense than yours

Solid team yet again in 2003, Brian Westbrook becomes a Star, is it time Eagles fans??? Westbrook gets hurt, out of the playoffs, Carolina takes advantage and knocks us out.

Get T.O in 2004 and think, that after several years of being left at the altar that this is FINALLY the year? Watch TO break his leg, watch horrible time management take over in SB XXXIX, see or opportunity fade away.

OK, 2004 was good, but we've got the band back together in 2005, will this finally be the year? TO demands more money, hires Rosenhaus, does situps in his driveway and basically gets banished from the team. Rest of the team crumbles before our eyes.

2007 - Giants wil the Superbowl - go figure...

Is this it in 2008? We have new talents (Desean, Celek), a great defense, can we actually do it? Lose to Arizona despite blowing them away earlier in the year.

Its 2011 - we've got a dynamic offense, and decent players on defense, could this be the year? Jim Washburn's Wide-9 scheme negates the Jim Johnson Defense that confused opponents for 11 years. An O-Line coach is our defensive coordinator, our QB doesn't slide and our all-star secondary doesn't play up to their ability. Oh yeah, we still don't have linebackers.

OK, here comes the 2012 season. The Guy hwo proved that Jim Johnson's defense can win a SB in Steve Spagnuolo is available, can we finally do it? Spags isn't ocming aboard due to Washburn's personality and style, Castillo stays as DC. Who knows what happens with the secondary but I'm not holding my breath. Desean's likely gone so our surprise factor will go with him. Guess what I think they'll do this upcoming season...

Steve: A fantastic recitation of the recent history of the Eagles... I say with all sincerity: Thanks for the memories. You have shown yourself to be a true Eagles fan as well as a person who has a tremendous recollection for what we both have lived through. And: I can't feel bad for T.O. either...
