Like global warming, the liberal agenda wants to bludgeon the mainstream into accepting facts that aren't in evidence. Both climate and human sexuality are very complex subjects. They don't neatly fit the progressive wish list. It's a bad idea to throw out a reasonable and responsible compromise like Don't Ask, Don't Tell to satisfy a short-term political need.
Jake - The cost on military readiness of don't ask don't tell was high. 79 percent of soldiers expelled from the Army under "don't ask, don't tell" held jobs that were critical to military operations. In the Navy, 760 sailors expelled spoke languages considered critical to U.S. military operations, including Arabic, Serbian and Haitian Creole. That's your idea of reasonable and responsible?

Bob, thank you for the post in the other thread that Gil had this article in today's paper. I made sure to buy a copy at lunch and enjoyed the read. Gil isn't afraid to tackle any topic. And even with his taking on that second job, he posted here as well.
I guess we all are what we are by choice and by nature. BITOA - beer (booze) is the only answer.
Rus, Responding after a pleasant happy hour with old friends...just so you know the priorities are straight. Bob, The members of the military who are unable to uphold the relatively modest requirements of DADT just might not be disciplined enough for our current needs. Perhaps it was a blessing that we found out under these political circumstances rather than the rigors of war.
Danny: Your comment ending with ZING is beneath that for which you are known to other Spencerblogers... You can quite accurately, according to all known sources, call Mr. Spencer a hetrosexual. But to allege that his is a womanizing, alcoholic madman is uncalled for. According to reliable sources he is a happily married man, at least as happy as any married man can be. And he is hardly an alcholic madman. He may enjoy an adult beverage from time-to-time but that doesn't make him an alcholic madman. Mr.Spencer doesn't need me to stick up for him, he does a good job of that himself. But as a fellow Spencerblogger I must ask that you get it right. Thanks...
Jake - Where have you been? We've been at war for the past 10 yrs. in Iraq and Afghanistan. These brave patriotic Americans who were willing to serve, were let go when they were most needed. And for most of them, I doubt the reasons for their dismissals were related to poor performance or cowardice.
Bob, Don't misrepresent what I said. Discipline is not cowardice or poor performance. And it's doubtful that any violation of DADT occurred under enemy fire.
Public approval of the gay lifestyle is a high-priority social goal of the left-wing agenda. Our soldiers should not be pawns in political gamesmanship. DADT was a reasonable, responsible way for the military to remain above the fray. Obama felt obliged to blow it up to pander to his liberal base.
Jake - Seems as though all of my replies to your comments are a misrepresentation of what you said! You're starting to sound like a Republican presedential candidate!

Honestly, I believe that being a gay is a choice of a man or woman. I do not believe that people are born that way but that they are influenced by the society in which they grew up!
Gays, alcoholics and artists? What are you trying to say Gil?
