Bob: Danny's anyone but Romney posts? By golly, I don't know whether that is fact or not but if it is, all the credit goes to Danny. More important, however, if it is fact, it shows that one can change his perspective as time passes. Which means that maybe there really is hope for you to see the light...
Charlie - I'm sure Danny knows what Im talking about, and I don't think Romney has done anything different to change Danny's opinion. I think it's just that Danny has to accept that Romney is going to be the candidate. This article really doesn't make a comparison of Romneys ideas or abilities to Reagans. It's more about the political and election year climate. The big hole in making this comparison is that Reagan ran against Carter after Carters failure to rescue the hostages in Iran. Had he been successful, he probably would have had a second term, or at least his chances would have been much better. On the other hand, Obama's approval ratings keep rising while the Republican congress remains at an all time low. And Obama has been quite successful at eliminating terrorist leaders. BTW, I don't know what poll Danny's quoting that shows Santorum beating Obama by 1%. Danny made questionable claims in the past about Cain beating Obama in the polls even after Cain had pulled out of the race, but Danny failed to produce his questionable poll when I called him on it. I'm sure Danny has learned his lesson and he's just itching to show me this poll with a 1% lead. All I can say to Danny is "Bring em on" We would love to see Santorum vs. Obama. But I also think we'll do quite well with Obama vs. Romney.
Obama's approval ratings have gone up because the focus of the Media world is on the GOP primary in which the candidates have been tearing eachother apart. (No wonder most presidents get a second term) It also helps when his campaign asks the media to misrepresent some social issues to help his cause.
Steve - I'll agree with you that a weak and argumentative Republican field has helped Obama. But getting Bin Laden, GM's improved numbers, getting the troops out of Iraq, the slow improvment in the economy, and his personal likability factor also help. Lets face it. The one thing even Jake can't argue with is that he's a good family man. People like that.
Bob, Would a good family man really drag his daughters into the Fluke mess? What a great idea to have young women identify with a $3000 a year contraceptive lifestyle. By a 30 year-old woman, no less, who ought to have outgrown her whining about government freebies and moved on to the serious business of a productive life.
Obama is a failure as a President and his errors in judgment extend into his personal life, as well.
He's going to be my man from here on!
ReplyDeleteI am betting he beats Obama by a landslide. 65% to 35%.
The polls show Santorum beating Obama by 1% now! (Cue Bob)
Uh oh! Now I'll have to go back through the archives and dig up some of Danny's anyone but Romney posts and cartoons.
ReplyDeleteBelieve in America, Bob
ReplyDeleteJake - I do. I just don't believe in your vision of America.
