My son wrote a paper in college this year (he's a junior) about being bullied by a teacher when he was a freshman in high school.
His mom and I were somewhat aware of what was going on, but rather than addressing our concerns, the administration and school bureaucracy buried any response behind personnel legalese.
Reading about it now, the specifics make your stomach turn. The time is long past where we need to get our kids out of the clutches of this dysfunctional public sector racket.
As a great follow up to your son, jake. My son was with a friend at his high school. A teacher, who has a doctorate, asked his friend to hand to him his water bottle. The boy complied. He opened it and sniffed it. He said the boys eyes were red and glassy.(Peak pollen count day last week)He sent the boy to the Principals office and the boy was tested!?!?!?!? Guess what they found? NOTHING...
The kids parents found out when he got home, they were not contacted by the school at all!
I have long made fun of a schools zero tolerance rules... Common sense has flown the coupe!
I was just saying the other day that teachers and administrators might want to review their BULLY policy!
ReplyDeleteSometimes teachers and academicians are the worst bullies!!
Absolutely, Danny.
