Memoirs and the Fakes Who Write Them

Mark Steyn goes off... on Obama's fake memoir, other fake memoir writers, and the silly people who celebrate them.

Courtesy of David Maraniss' new book, we now know that yet another key prop of Barack Obama's identity is false: His Kenyan grandfather was not brutally tortured or even non-brutally detained by his British colonial masters. The composite gram'pa joins an ever-swelling cast of characters from Barack's "memoir" who, to put it discreetly, differ somewhat in reality from their bit parts in the grand Obama narrative. The best friend at school portrayed in Obama's autobiography as "a symbol of young blackness" was, in fact, half Japanese, and not a close friend. The white girlfriend he took to an off-Broadway play that prompted an angry post-show exchange about race never saw the play, dated Obama in an entirely different time zone, and had no such world-historically significant conversation with him. His Indonesian step-grandfather, supposedly killed by Dutch soldiers during his people's valiant struggle against colonialism, met his actual demise when he "fell off a chair at his home while trying to hang drapes."
It goes on and it's a pip.

  1. And the hitsm just keep on coming! Everything about this man is a bald faced, flagrant lie. And the worst part is people still believe him. Not to sound like a birther but he refuses to provide proof of his birth. He provided a "birth certificate" that anyone can see there are problems with. His own lawyers have admitted in court it is a fabrication, So what is true? He allowed his publisher to advertise him as born in Kenya and he ran for Illinois Senate as the Kenyan born candidate. He claimed to be a Constitutional Law Professor but now we learn he was a visiting lecturer which means he stated his opinion once or twice. Given his performance in office and his contradictory statements and actions, his opinion of Constitutional Law is, at best, flawed and the students who sat in on his lectures were robbed of the value of the education they paid good money for.
If the childhood saying "Liar, liar, pants on fire" were real life, Obama would be a cinder by now, burned betond even the expertise of Crozer Burn Center.

  2. Let me get this straight: A self-admitted Kenyan born candidate for the U.S. Senate in Illinois transformed himself into a Hawaiian born person to run for the Presidency of the United States. And apparently the Democratic Party forgot to either recognize oy or, if they did, failed to understand the inconsistency. Are we surprised?
