Natalie Munroe, the Bucks County teacher who referred to her students as "ratlike," "dunderheads" and "utterly loathsome" on her personal blog last year has been fired.
"I've been set up," said Munro, sounding an awful lot like Marion Barry, the former crack-smoking mayor of Washington D.C.
Of course, her union has filed a grievance against the district on her behalf.
Why isn't my heart aching for her?
As hard as it is to accept, Natalie M. gets the support of her union in her First Amendment claim. What does that tell the taxpayers of Central Bucks about the state of their kids education? Natalie M. may have a First Amendment right to say what she said. But the school district also has a right to expect professionalism from the teachers they employ. A trait which Ms. Munroe obviously does not possess. But that doesn't matter to the union. I guess you're just gonna have that sometimes.
