At a Theater New You

UPDATE: An interview with the filmmaker. Sounds like a pretty decent liberal to me.

UPDATE II: The critics aren't giving this film much love. But then critics gave "The Master" raves. Regular moviegoers not so much. The non ravers include Mrs. Spencerblog and Daughter of Spencerblog. They hated "The Master."

I saw the film Friday and it was really very good, although a little sugar coated. Things are actually much more ugly in Delaware County Public Schools.

I normally wouldn't be interested, but since Mike is so against it, it must be a good movie.
How can anyone think its a persuasive argument when he cites the Washington Post and Salon as sources?

If the mother in this story is that resourceful why not apply it to something that will put money in her pocket so she can move to a better school district?

Uh oh, it has the Media Borough bat***t liberal in a tizzy dropping any drive-by articles he can find to smear the film, sounds like I need to see it!

"Drive-by?" Hardly. Val Strauss's blog on the Washington Post's web site is best writing on education one can find.

And the other links are via writing by Ken Bernstein, a top education blogger, and a link I found via the work of Diane Ravitch.

Steve, along with Jake, can feel free to go waste $12 to go see the movie. I'm sure the $24 will make up about 10% of the gross proceeds.

Mike,
I think the film's producer said it best:
"The NEA and the AFT are right to protect teachers, but I think that they do the profession a disservice by treating all teachers like they are the same. As a result, so many great teachers do not get the treatment, compensation or respect that they deserve, because the teacher's union can't seem to admit that there are some folks that are not good at their job and they should find a different career. As a result of refusing to embrace this commonsense proposition, the overwhelming majority of good teachers suffer."
It's very sad that our resident professional educator and his delusional union colleagues can't see the logic in that reasonable position.

Do we really know that MediaMike is a professional educator? Or are we just assuming that based on his unequivocal advocacy of the education unions? Whichever it is really dosen't matter. Nor does he feedback matter.

Charlie:

My feedback might not matter, but it seems the American public has yawned at this film.
