Debt ceiling? No compromise. Because President Obama truly believes that since he was reelected by "a majority of Americans" he doesn't need to compromise. Whoops. (1) He wasn't reelected by a majority of Americans. He was reelected by a majority of those who voted. But (2) The House of Representatives has a majority of Republicans. Doesn't that mean that "a majority of Americans" voted for Republicans to represent them? Guns? He won't negotiate. Taxes? His way or the highway. Obama Von Vader is clearly Darth in a tailored suit.
A majority of Americans did not vote Republican in House races. The Democratic party won the house by 500,000 votes.

If you look at the details, Mike, you'll see why that 500,000 majority exists. Indeed, look only to the PA 1st District, Brady vs Featherman with Brady winning by 180,000 votes. And the 2nd District with Fattah winning by about 260,000. That accounts for 440,000 of the 500,000 in only two of the PA districts. http://www.politico.com/2012-election/results/house/pennsylvania/

Now I'm am at almost +500,000 Republican votes from 3 districts.
I'm sure you can find some more on your own.
The key point is that the Repubican majority in the house was created via Gerrymanderings, Democrats had 500,000 more votes in House elections, and the President won a significant majority in boht popular and electoral votes yet again.
George Bush governed with a much smaller mandate. Obama will govern using the mandate he's earned.
