Life, Liberty and Misquotes

Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit catches the boys and girls on the NYT Editorial Board misquoting the U.S. Constitution.

"THE NEW YORK TIMES' EDITORS think that the phrase "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is in the Constitution. But then, they believe many things that are demonstrably untrue."

Thank God and the Founders for the First Amendment. If we had to have a license to "report the news," the Times would have lost theirs a long time ago.

Hey, maybe they meant the Japanese Constitution. It's in there.

    I was just thinking about this very thing yesterday when I was making a Lib on this board look like a fool in another thread. I admit I had to refer to my handy copy of the Constitution posted on the wall in my office just to make sure of exactly what it did say. Lying Libs rarely ever bother with such bothersome fact checking when they smell a chance to slant a story.

    Maybe it’s time we reconsider that whole ‘unabridged freedom of the Press’ thing. Certainly our Founders did not foresee the misuses and abuses common today thanks to the slimy Libs who hold most of that industry hostage and use it as their own private indoctrination/ propaganda clearinghouse. And if they had you can bet they would have spent more time more carefully crafting that part.

    Oh, another thing our Rule Book does not say: That Libs can extend rights reserved only for American citizens to illegal aliens and terrorist detainees.
