Penn Delco Silly Board

My print column on the continued silliness of the Penn Delco School Board is up. Can't anybody here play this game?

Well Mr. Spencer again you are right on the money. You see yes the faces may have changed but the way things are done here in Penn-Delco remains the same. Smoke screen after smoke screen. That black cloud will hover over this district till this board starts to acknowledge that the taxpayers have every right to know what there money is being spent on. The time for secrecy and closed door meetings is going to come to an end. Until the GOP of Aston releases it's grip on this district things will remain status quo. Until some true leadership appears like a Phoenix rising from the ashes we are all stuck with the motley crew.

This is the same Gil Spencer that told us what that felon John Green did was no worse than a parking ticket.

This is the same Gil Spencer that called us a bunch of yahoos for complaining that felon Keith Crego got off too easy.

We're not buying it, Spencer.

You don't speak for us.

Are you a cop-hater, Spencer?

Officer Anthony Ruggieri may not be the best public speaker, but he is sure as hell an honest, hard working guy.

What's the matter, you upset at him for giving the Philly Daily
News the scoop about your pal John Green?

You're a disgrace, Spencer.

How much damage is the Aston GOP doing to the county GOP by not putting real reformers on this board? I think a Q and A will one of the Republican County Leaders by Spencer regarding their inability to change the malaise here is in order. Sadly the Aston GOP had the oppurtunity to solidy their strenght for years to come and obviously think they can do business as usual and still survive.

Let's see if we got this straight.

Spencer praises his source, the former school board president Dave Seitz, even though Seitz publicly admitted to being a liar.

But Spencer calls into question the honesty of a law enforcement officer who refuses to give a comment to him.

Spencer, you make us sick.
Your agenda has nothing to do with what's best for us taxpayers.

Go pick in your own school board, you loser.

Hey Spencer - When are you going to start telling us readers about your source/Penn Delco Chief Financial Officer John Steffy and any involvement he may have had with that felon Keith Crego, that felon John Green, that back-dating of those financial interest statements, that district life insurance rip-off, and that education foundation scandal?

When are you going to start telling us readers about the contract his buddy Crego gave Steffy that makes him the highest paid business manager in Delaware County (about $160,000 per year), right next to Radnor School District?

And when you do get around to it, be sure to disclose to us readers that Steffy's criminal defense lawyer is your friend Arthur Donato!

You wouldn't want to mislead us readers, would you Spencer?

Spencer: Just where do get off disrespecting a police officer like Tony Ruggieri? He puts his life on the line day in and day out (just look at what happened to one of our brethren in Philly yesterday) and then volunteers the rest of his time to be a school board president. Just where do you get off calling him dumb or acting like hes dishonest? Whoever said on here that your buddies with a criminal defense lawyer makes alot of sense to me.

May 4, 2008 at 9:56 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

May I first say that Mr. Ruggieri may be a wonderful police officer. But as a President of a school board he has a short fuse is disrespectful and quite arogant. As someone who serves the public as a police officer you would think he would have a greater sense of dealing with the public. It seems he feels the taxpayer only gets to know what he wants them to know. Maybe he needs to attend that school where you actually learn to be a school board member. He may be President of the board but he is only a board member one of many. The negativity will remain till the public feels they are totally informed and included in the descision making process by their opinions being heard and acted upon. They have been ignorned for way too long.

PS: Mr. Spencer I would love for you to do an article on the foundation I think the public has the right to know exactly what has taken place since we aren't getting any answers here in Penn-Delco. And also it seems one of your favorite lawyers has posted on here still whining like a little boy till he gets his own way. Keep digging Spencer I'm sure there is gold at the end of them there tunnels!!!!

Don't hold your breath waiting for Spencer to do a column on the Foundation!

May 4, 2008 at 2:22 PM

Doubt Spencer will do an article on the foundation.

All his boys (Green, Seitz and Steffy) were on that foundation board when foundation officer Green was writing foundation checks to Green's and Steffy's buddy (the ex-school board member who owns Penn Delco's landcape company) when the checks should have gone to our kids technology in the schools. But if Spencer figures he's got to write an article or he'll look like a smacked ass, he'll try to blame it on anybody except Green, Seitz and Steffy.

Spencer is all for Spencer, not Penn Delco residents.

The people are right - stay out of
Penn Delco, your not welcome here.

Whats the matter, Gil, have you had trouble with cops before?
Why you trying to make a good honest cop look dishonest and stupid? Why you trying to cover for a convict like John Green and his crony Steffy? Why you trying to pick on a cop that volunteeers their time for their community, and not some overpaid (160,000 Gs a year!) corporate exec like Steffy? You crossed the line, Gil. The thin blue line. Your a cop-hater, arent you?

May 4, 2008 at 2:58 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Spencer doesn't need to make Ruggieri look stupid and dishonest Ruggieri is doing that all by his self. I truthfully don't think the man is dishonest only quoting another poster. He needs to stop listening to the party as to how the district needs to be run and listen to the people who teach and administer the district and the ones that pay the frieght. I hope he doesn't allow the power that he thinks is given with the presidency of the board go to his head as it did in Crego's case. Mr. Ruggieri if you have any aspirations of going any further than the school board please reconsider. Because that will never happen unless you do a complete 360 degree turn around. All is not lost you can do this lose the attitude!!!

May 4, 2008 at 7:22 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hey Anonymous 7:22 pm -

Don't you mean a "180" instead of a "360"? A "360" gets you back exactly where you started!

What's your proof that Officer Ruggieri is "listening to the party"?

And why do you think it's a good idea for any school board president to start listening to people that "administer" the district when that includes people like Crego's pal, administrator John Steffy?

Isn't Officer Ruggieri and us better off not listening to a clown like Steffy who was trying to sell us on his buddy convict John Green's "DisastraTurf" idea?

Officer Ruggieri shot that right down, and he deserves to be thanked for that, not attacked for such baby stuff as his "attitude".

Hey guys,

Those of you who are attacking Gil because AR is a police officer, lighten up. You don't speak for all police officers either. I'm on the job, and have had some dealings with AR on PDSD issues (not police issues). I'm not sure how good a cop he is, but he's not much of a school board member.

I have to agree with David Diano here. Gil, your drivel is growing quite tiresome. Anyone with half a brain can conclude from who you protect and praise, who you attack, and the Penn Delco issues that you focus on (ie, your story bashing Mr. Ruggieri versus your silence on the Foundation mess) that you certainly have an skewed agenda here. I second the request that you go pick on your own school board, leave ours alone.

FOP,

Your logic is really impressive. AR's day job doesn't have anything to do with the school board position. Did Gil even call him a liar? I thought he just called him arrogant and stupid. Your logic in bringing up the sacrifice of Sgt. Liczbinski demonstrates your lack of ability to make a reasoned argument. What does Gil Spencer's opinion of AR as a school board member have to do with the murder of a police officer? It disgusts me that you would even bring that into the discussion. How insulting to Sgt. Liczbinski's memory. I don't need to be reminded of his sacrifice. I'll be at his funeral. I'm at every one of them. Unfortunately, there have been too many lately. Skerski, Cassidy, and all the rest. You're a knucklehead.

One of Spencers whacked out cop-hating followers just attacked Officer Ruggieri by saying "In my opinion good and honest cops don't bash a suspect's head in for no reason and get his department sued."

Your the knucklehead. You could have stand up for a fellow officer, instead you stabbed him in the back.

No I am not a wacked out cop hater. I am stating the kind of police officer AR is or used to be. It is fact. It is public record.

For your information my brother and father are police officers as are about a dozen of my friends. I am the furthest thing from cop hater.

Perhaps you feel that you need to stand up for AR due to the "brotherhood". I happen to believe the truth is more important.

What public record proves that Officer Ruggieri "bashed a suspect's head in for no reason"?
Was he charged by the DA with that? did a jury convict him of that? Or did some creep looking to hit the lottery just say that and sue for $$$$$$? If you really care about cops, you better be real careful with your answer, since you just accuse a good and honest cop of commiting a crime!

FOP,

Things got a little confusing with the multiple "anonymous" posters, including me. I'm the one who didn't understand what Sgt. Lizcbinski had to do with AR, but I'm not the one who made the "bashing over the head" comments. Just for clarification.

Anyway, you're right about the "credible" comment. My bad, I missed that. Yeah, that's basically calling him a liar. But I don't take that as an attack on "us". Its an attack on AR. Unless YOU are AR, its not an attack on you, on law enforcement or anything of the like. Its not even an attack on AR's abilities as a LEO. Stop generalizing. Gil is allowed to think AR is a liar or as he's said in the past "not the sharpest knife in the drawer." I'm all for defending the profession, but it doesn't need defending here. Unfortunately, there are cops who are liars, stupid and/or corrupt. Saying so makes me a better cop, not a worse one. Calling someone out on those things is necessary. (I'm not saying AR is the above things, by no means -- but that seems to be your issue -- you think that Gil IS saying those things and therefore all cops should automatically defend AR.)

Just a Cop -

Appreciate you explaining. May be I overeacted a little. Here's what Im trying to say: Spencer attacks innocent people and tries to make them look guilty. Officer Ruggieri is not a liar and is not a crook, I think he helped expose John Green as the felon that Green is. and I don't think Officer Ruggieri is finished helping to clean up Penn Delco. Like other peoples said I think Spencer is pissed off that his bad guy sources like John Green have gone down the toilet. So I think Spencer has made up his mind to go after Officer Ruggieri for nothing. Im all in favor of exposing bad guys, no matter if there cops, teachers, doctors, Indian Chiefs, whatever. But Officer Ruggieri is a good guy and everybody especially us good cops should stand up for him. Thats it in a nutshell.

Dearest Gil,

How do you measure if you're hitting close to home with your article? Just look here! Your dead on as usual.

AR shouldn't be considered for parking meter duty let alone trying to run a school board. His short temper and short-sightedness is obvious. I saw the exchance that evening with that nice lady Ms. Rodgers, and If my husband was still alive, he would have jumped in AR face and knocked him into the middle of next week for being that disrespectful to a woman plain and simple. AR your parents obviously didnt teach you manners. I am astounded that you act like a 4 year old and they let you carry a gun.

I can say, from personal experience interacting with him myself on some issues I had with PD, I don't think much of AR as a school board member. In regard to my particular situation, he didn't show very much astuteness and was basically pretty clumsy and ended up making things much worse. But, that's just my situation.

Please let's get something straight here. Ruggieri was not elected as a policeman on the Penn-Delco School Board. He was elected by the people to SERVE as a school board member and put in the position of PRESIDENT of the school board by the Republican Party. He was not on the board long enough to be appointed PRESIDENT nor did he have enough experience. Hence forth he finds his self in the fix he is in. He is not there to police the school district. We already had that done by the district attorneys office. He can not wear two hats for the job at hand. His gun, badge and cuffs stay at home. But he is still in a public position where criticism abounds. You need to be able to take it or move on. The public expects explanations not "no comment" statements. It not only makes the person saying it look bad but the district as a whole. That creates negativity. Mr. Ruggieri needs to take a chill pill and come down off his pedestal. Join the rest of us in the real world. In Penn-Delco you are only a taxpayer Mr. Ruggieri nothing more and nothing less!

He quit Eddystone PD after allegations of police brutality were made against him many years ago. I think the borough eventually paid a settlement to the victim of the alleged brutality. True facts, so I’ve heard.

Response to Serve And Protect,
Ms. Rodgers can stand on her own two feet. She needs no ones help. As for her integrity it is impecable. She doesn't print anything that she can't backup by TRUE FACTS. She has been in this buisness when most of you were in school. Don't kill the messenger she reports what is spoken and factual. Here in Penn-Delco you don't need to look for news it is always being made by either the commissioners or the school board. A staff of reporters would be very busy right here in our three communities. If there are those that can't take the heat as Hillary says maybe it is time to get out of the kitchen! Keep up the good work Mrs. Rodgers you will be here long after all these board members are gone and forgotten. Thank you for keeping the three communities abreast of what is really taking place. There seems to be some who don't want the real truth told.

If Anthony Ruggieri shot down the turf issue "right away", why was it on the agenda for months? Only after the public outcry for the turf issue to have a NO vote did the school board FINALLY vote to stop.

Anthony Ruggieri exposed John Green? Why wasn't he there next to Mark Sereni to take the credit? I'm not defending John Green and his action (I'm glad he's gone) but to say Anthony Ruggieri exposed John Green's backdating is laughable.

I would have to say that many of you on here backing Anthony Ruggieri's ability to be a school board president have never been to a PDSD meeting or even watch one on TV. If you have, you would realize that he is over his head in that position. He may be a fine police officer, husband, father, brother and all that, but those qualities do not equate to being a compentent school board president.

Posting their concerns about our (as in not their)district here and on GA has become a full-time job. Are things slow at the courthouse?

The Penn Delco School District is a wholly-owned subsidiary and cash cow of the Aston Republican Party--and they are fighting hard to keep it! Not for the kids or the taxpayers, but for their own benefit.

Okay, it's been a few months, so I'm going to point this out again:

Gil Spencer's blog (and articles) are bad.

They're boring, poorly researched, opinionated, and very carefully protect certain people... We can all take our guesses at why.

It's also been observed that he has a particular vendetta against a certain previous solicitor. You'd think he would stop singing that same old song eventually, but old Gilly never could learn a new tune.

Now, if you look at his blog, you'll notice he's usually lucky to get one comment. It's probably his mom, or maybe some kid he paid to make him look popular.

Look at what happens every time he posts about the Penn Delco school board - His blog board erupts. So here's what everyone should do: Stay on GoAston.com. Have the great, thought-provoking discussions that we all enjoy. Don't give Gil the satisfaction of posting on his pathetic blog, and don't let him think that whenever he doesn't have anything new to write about, he has a built in audience by dragging the same tired story out.

Can we do that? Please?

And for the thousandth time, we read that everyone who disagrees with this particularly mean-spirited, um let's just say "keyboard" artist, of course works, used to work for the Daily times, th school district or is a fellow traveller of Spencer, Steffy, Green, Seitz, Rodgers, etc., etc., etc.

Pathetic.

Y'know Sound Off has a posting policy that says "Sound Off is a forum to spur dialogue from members of the communities we serve on topics of interest to those communities. Concerned Neighbor has never been wrong. Spencer is usually wrong.

Concerned Neighbor is fair. Spencer is unfair.

Concerned Neighbor tells it to us straight. Spencer spins his story to suit his own agenda.

Concerned Neighbor has a heart and doesn't engage in personal attacks.

You are correct, there is no comparison. Gil's been doing a great job for years, uncovering behind the door dealings and shady crap that most don't see. Sereni was CAUGHT gouging the tax payers of penndelco. (over 200,000.00 for a part time gig?) And only THEN, when its brought to light, is Gil the bad guy? What's wrong Mark, ya got caught and daddy can't bail you out this time? Talk about the silver spoon, daddy's been paving the way for too long. 27-90 -

Another personal attack.

You look like such a fool thinking you're talking to somebody who probably doesn't even read this garbage.

Now talk to me.

Why didn't your hero Gil expose the education foundation and that illegal no-bid contract to the district's landscaper paid for by misappropriated state grant money?

Why didn't your hero Gil expose that life insurance policy that the district business manager purportedly said out of one side of his mouth was a rip-off to the district yet out of the other side of his mouth signed up for himself?

Why didn't your hero Gil expose the backdating of state-mandated statements of financial interests that had the effect of covering up the fact that a school board member was illegaly voting on awarding contracts and paying taxpayer dollars to his own company?

What do all these apparent scandals have in common? Previous school board member/now convict John Green and that overpaid, responsible-for-nothing business manager ($160,000 a year) John Steffy?

And what do those two fine upstanding gentlemen have in common? They're sources for Gil?

Why does it take somebody like Concerned Neighbor (who ever he/she is, and I don't give a damn who it is) to expose all of this?

In the end, Gil will be held to account.

And all of us who cherish the truth are very much looking forward to it.

How many personas are you posting under here CN? Isn't Go aston enough anymore? Your like Sybil, but all your personalities are the same.

You are your own cheering section! "Wow that CN, what a guy, what a seeker of truth." "Whoever that CN is, he sure is right!" 'CN kicks Spencer's butt"

In the end Gil will be held to account? For what? His vendetta against Sereni? His "silver spoon" background as you call it?

You need help, honestly it's just obsessive, and that's no joke.
I often disagree with Gil's position on some matters, but I think on the whole he does a commendable job.

You Spencer Lovers and Truth Haters need a wake up call.

David Diano posts on here that Spencer is a puppet of a politician, and none of you seem to raise an eyebrow at that.

You're not "Stepford Wifes", you're
"Spencer Wifes".

And what a big baby your "man" Spencer is with that article today. "Some bloggers actually disagree with me. Gosh, they really don't like me. Boo hoo!"

You don't speak for us, Spencer.

After attending last nights special meeting in Penn-Delco I'd say get out those pens and pencils and petition sheets and go door to door to recall Ruggieri as President of Penn-Delco school board. This man is a disgrace to this district. He not only admonished the speakers he actually had the gaul to turn off the videotaping of the meeting because he didn't like the way the speaker was talking to him. That speaker was a past board member and a past commissioner of the township. He then had the gaul to put the meeting in seindi which is to be used to discuss items not on an agenda or proposals by outside organizations. The full board then left the room. Ruggieri REFUSES to give the public information on a new superintendents salary. You have to see the right to know officer BULLCRAP. We are the peole paying for his salary. This man nneeds to go and he needs to go NOW!!! RESIGN your incompetence will no longer be tolerated by the public.

You Idiots..

I'm a retired law enforcement officer that has worked with Tony Ruggeri, who is a GREAT Person by the way. People he may come off arogant, but that is because of the puppet strings putting pressure on him

Cop Hater??? What the hell does that have to do with Gil's column????

Tony, as a friend I must say you must be out of your mind to get tangled up with the Aston GOP motley crew. You have no idea how much you are putting your law enforcement career in jeopardy. Once your in, they own you. You will never be able to show the people who you really are becuase of the puppet strings. Beware!

Gil's column is not about anything but the idiots who run the worst GOP party in the county.

The Aston GOP party is hilarious. Aston Twp. is this little tiny piece of nothing in a very large world. Get over yourselves, you actual mean nothing in the large scheme of things!

Get a life, get along or get out!!

Thank god I put my kids in private school.

Gil Spencer, thanks for having the courage to stand up to these monkeys.

Why the attack on Steffy? You got your asss busted Mark S. and the other two crooks got caught, under your watchful eye I might add. just because Steffy was smart enough to stay out of the line of fire, makes him the bad guy? I actually like the guy and he seems to be doing a very nice job.

Kepp up the good work Gil and Loretta.

p.s. Loretta, next time you are assaulted with witnesses at a school board meeting, I have this little thing you could borrow. My husband bought it for me, it's called a tazer. Let's see how AR looks flopping around on the floor for a bit.
