Big Tent Donkey Dung

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm declares the U.S. senators who voted against a bailout of her state's auto industry "un-American."

As far as we know, none of the senators have turned around and declared Granholm's statement to be "Canadian," though she was born there and seems to prefer its more socialist system of government to ours.

Sure sounds like Granholm, a Democrat, is questioning the patriotism of her opponents, something other Democrats have claimed is the slimiest sort of politics.

Interestingly, Democrats have claimed their patriotism was being questioned even when it wasn't in order to announce what a disgusting political tactic it is.

Maybe this is what is meant by the Democrats having a big tent. The party accepts politicians who accuse opponents of being unpatriotic and also accepts politicians who declare such accusations reprehensible, even when they are not being made.

That is a big tent. It needs to be, with so much donkey dung being tossed about.

  1. Did you hear about Jim Bunning being dis-invited from a Detroit Tigers autograph signing because he didn't support the bailout?

  2. That's why the country voted to increase the Dem's Senate majority, to get rid of those "patriots" that want to sit by and watch the auto industry crumble, all just to bust the unions. You see if there is no auto industry, then there can't be an auto union (just like the third world).

  3. Anon-iano thinks the country voted to increase the Dem's majority in the senate to increase the power of big labor unions.

If that's true why are the majority of U.S. voters AGAINST a bailout of U.S. automakers?

Probably because the majority of Americans are un-American I guess.

    What a maroon!

  4. AP - Yeah, being snubbed by the Tigers is a small price to pay to standing up for principle.

  5. 1) Pro Union/Labor was Dem campaign issue. So, it is true.

    2) Most people that are against bailout are against the automakers, not the unions and don't realize the GOP is trying to engage in union busting.

If the auto industry collapses, don't forget to thank the GOP.

  6. Anon-iano gets funnier and funnier.

He thinks the majority of the American people would be for the GM bailout if only they realized it was good big labor.

Yeah, GM's failure is the fault of Republicans - not weak management and stubborn unions who didn't adjust to stiff competition.

  7. anon-iano refuses to recognizes the amazing labor cost differences between the big three and toyota/honda. i can't take him serious on the bailout unless he recognizes this.

  8. How much do YOU think the cost difference is?

How much do you think auto workers should make annually (or per hour)?

How does this compare to what YOU make per hour (without producing anything of use or substance)? Typing nonsense or factory labor?

BTW, please use wages of current workers, and don't include payments made to retirees.

  9. Obviously, Anon-iano has never met a payroll.

    A quick tutorial.

Union wages and benefits are negotiated between management and union reps.

Typically, when the costs and debts of a business exceed its profits, it goes out of business or declares bankruptcy.

At least that's what happens to most companies.

That is, unless the company and their unions are powerful enough and contribute enough money to certain political parties that they can get politicans to take tens of billions of dollars from other taxpayers to give to them.

  10. Notice how Spencerblog failed to provide a single number in answer to my questions?

BTW, when management is short-sighted and fails to modify the product line to compete and keep up with current trends, the workers end up suffering. So, your plan is to punish them more?

Try providing some actual wage figures next time. BTW, how many hours a week do YOU work at your cushy job, compared to a guy on the factory floor?

  11. Good to see Anon-iano's hand is back to working so well.

We were told by one of his sock puppets on another thread he hurt it "helping a friend move furniture."

Is it possible a couch also fell on his head?

    For his understanding about how
wages and salaries are arrived at in a relatively free market is shockingly absent.

We have tried to explain it to him once. That's enough.

As for our cushy job, we seem to be working on Sunday morning and not getting paid for it. Silly us. The UAW would
    be furious.

  12. There is no questioning (well, not sincerely anyway) the negative impact that greedy Big Labor unions and their rediculous demands blind to economic reality have had on the auto and every other industry. They are directly responsble for jobs being shipped overseas. And yet some Libs still blindly cling to that proven failure of a greedy model...

  13. You were working on Sunday? Clicking a mouse? Boo. Hoo.

Gil, I guess you really are a man centuries ahead of your time. Just like George Jetson complaining about his few hour a week job pushing a button. Again. Boo. Hoo.

  14. No complaints.

We enjoy mocking the Anon-ianos of the world even when we're not getting paid for it.

    It's fun.
