Illinois governor indicted in pay to play.
Another "distance job" for Obama.
Let's see Ayers, Wright, Rezko, now Blagojevich.
Jake Tapper has more about Obama's long-time political relationship with the indicted governor.
In fairness, Harry Truman came out of a pretty corrupt cesspool of machine politics in Missouri and he managed to stay pretty clean himself.
UPDATE:
“The breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is staggering,” U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said. “They allege that Blagojevich put a ‘for sale’ sign on the naming of a United States Senator; involved himself personally in pay-to-play schemes with the urgency of a salesman meeting his annual sales target; and corruptly used his office in an effort to trample editorial voices of criticism.
“The citizens of Illinois deserve public officials who act solely in the public’s interest, without putting a price tag on government appointments, contracts and decisions,” he added.
Obama: "I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening"
ReplyDelete-vs.-
His statement that he didn't have contact with Blagojevich about the Senate seat seems to conflict with that of top adviser David Axelrod, who told Fox News Chicago on Nov. 23: "I know he's talked to the governor, and there are a whole range of names, many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."
Obama transition officials say Axelrod misspoke.
It also appears that Obama friend Valerie Jarrett, an incoming senior White House adviser, is the person referred to repeatedly in court documents as "Candidate 1." That individual is described as a female who is "an adviser to the president-elect" and as the person Obama wanted appointed to the Senate seat.
Another Obama lie.
CHANGE* IS HERE!
ReplyDelete(* - the more things change, the more they stay the same)
I meant to say that Obama is in the clear on this one. My choice for President had no wrongdoing in this unfortunate incident, set up by Illinios Republicans hell-bent on setting up controversey.
ReplyDeleteR and AP-
ReplyDeleteObama comes out this smelling like a rose. Blagojevich was pissed off at Obama because Obama's team REFUSED to bribe Blagojevich to get "Candidate 1" or whomever Obama wanted. On the tapes, Blagojevich referred to Obama as a m*ther-f*cker because he wouldn't let his people offer anything. No cabinet position. Nothing.
So, he's complaining because Obama's honest.
He comes out smelling, but not like a rose.
ReplyDeleteYou can't hang around with such people and not get some of their stink on ya.'
The political cesspool that Obama rose from is the worst and most corrupt in the nation.
As we said in the post, Truman came from a similarly corrupt machine and turned out OK.
Obama still has to avoid being implicated, fairly or not, by one of the many scumbags from his political past. The list continues to grow.
Gotta love it, the state of Illinois reminds me of the city of Philadelphia - total control by the left to the point where it gets dirty. This is an easy example. Embarrassing - beats any Larry Craig issue we've debated over the last two years.
ReplyDeleteI can't comment today, as I have called in 'gay'.
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean that the bloggers here get the stink of you and r? Gee, I hope not.
ReplyDeleteThe record shows that not only has Obama acted ethically throughout the whole process, but Obama's the one that helped the Illinois legislature pass stronger the ethic laws by overriding Blagojevich's veto.
You just can't stand it to find out that Obama is a decent guy. Boo. Hoo.
