Tomorrow is Day Without A Gay, during which homosexuals are being urged not to show up for work to show how important gay people are to the economy.
Remember, you've got to actually "call in gay," to get credit for participating in the demonstration.
As in, "I can't come to work today, I'm gay!"
And what are all those sick homophobes to do? No matter how ill they are tomorrow, they better show up for work.
Or else, well, you know.
The rest us should all stay home and watch "Bringing Up Baby," here's a preview.
umm, yeah...
ReplyDeletethat's a little too unnecessary.
"The rest [of] us should all stay home"
ReplyDeleteWhat "us" are you referring to Spencer?
Since you already referred to the homosexuals and the homophobes that were sick, that leaves the homophobes that are not ill as your version of "us". So, why would you, as a "not ill homophobe", stay at home and be mistaken for gay, while encouraging actually sick homophobes to go to work to avoid being branded?
Your logic on this matches your position.
If you bothered to actually look at the site:
"On December 10, you are encouraged not to call in sick to work. You are encouraged to call in "gay"--and donate your time to service! "
They are encouraging people to do community service work helping the poor and stuff like that, not watch TV like you'll be doing.
So, just to clarify, will you be taking a day off from blogging (and why)?
Yea. Unnecessary. Unless you happen to be a hermaphrodite polar bear.
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry. We should clarify, for this "Calling In Gay" Day, is a very serious matter... to SOME people.
ReplyDeleteOn second thought, never mind.
You forgot to "clarify" if you will be working tomorrow (and how anyone could tell the difference).
ReplyDeleteI guess the "SOME" people would be the people that realize gays have important civil rights issues and the people that want to block those rights.
The not-"SOME" people are the ones not paying attention.
Bob-
If the anti-conservation conservatives have their way, the polar bears will be calling in 'extinct'.
I support it, in fact, I will be calling in gay to support my brothers and sisters to show society how integral gay people are in society.
ReplyDeleteGil - It is a very serious matter! Let me ask you this. If these gay people don't show up for work, who's going to pick the fruit?
ReplyDeleteAnd what about government? The
Republican side of the house and senate will both be empty!
I knew Randal would eventually come around. After his rave about the jack booted security guard, it was just a matter of time.

Anon-iano, are you going to let such a slur pass?
I would fire anyone who "called in gay".
ReplyDeleteHey, how about these angry gays respect democracy and accept the outcome of Prop 8, STFU and leave it at that?
Wait a minute..
ReplyDeleteWhat if this backfires and millions of gay people call out of work and everything just goes kaput?
I'm sure it's the Mormons fault, somehow.
I think "Talk Like A Pirate Day" will have more participants.
So, I guess hundreds of people will be taking off across the country and doing "community service" like banning Nativity scenes in town squares and singing "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" at elementary schools.
Blech.

P.S. What if someone gets fired from calling out "gay" tomorrow? Does that mean they're going to get "fired for being gay"? And - yeah, way to look REAL good for the minority support you're trying to win.
"So - they just call off of work and help out at trendy thrift stores? At least we have marches.", Sharpton muttered.
Oh - and isn't unemployment at like an all-time high?
ReplyDeleteWay to show you totally care about your job while millions of people are unemployed and WISHING they had a job that would let them get away with such tomfoolery.
Gil - It was a joke! I was just trying to add a little levity. Do we always have to be so serious? I mean, why should Scott and Randal have a monopoly on saying stupid stuff?
ReplyDeleteA Joke? A JOKE?
ReplyDeleteOh, a joke. OK.
Attention: Calling All Gay People!
ReplyDeleteWe need a gay person to check in and comment how stupid, silly and counterproductive, "Calling In Gay Day" is because it so invites to be mocked, even by homophiles.
Commenting while gay is welcome at Spencerblog. We embrace diversity.
"We need a gay person to check in and comment how stupid, silly and counterproductive...."
ReplyDeleteHow about a gay (or straight) person checking in with a story about how it raised awareness in their workplace?
"Commenting while gay.."
Since people like R and Scott stupidly believe that being gay is a choice, will they "choose" to be gay for a few hours to post their "Day as a Gay" insights?
Bob-
Good joke. For a minute there, I though it was just R posting as you. The question is: who was posting a "randal" and pretending he had an actual job to call in gay?
Bob, BTW, "Scott and Randal have a monopoly on saying stupid stuff"
Not so. You forgot Spencer. It's more of a triumvirate than a monopoly.
Gil - Yea a joke. If I offended anyone other than Gil, I apologize. Maybe I can get one of them George Bush "Do Overs". I believe humor has a place in almost every aspect of life. There are exceptions, but this isn't one of them. Anyone who posts on this blog knows that I support the cause of equality for people in the gay community. I've even gone as far as writing a letter of rebutal to a Shields letter in the Times, and signing my name to it. I don't hide my support. I'm right up front about it.
ReplyDeleteI have close friends in the gay community, my X wife being one of them. I've been close enough to the situation to know that it's not a choice. Think about this. Why would anyone "choose" to be a member of a group that is looked down upon by society?
Then there was the second part of my joke about closeted, hypocritical Republicans. I'm not asking for a do over on that one.
Oh - and isn't unemployment at like an all-time high?
ReplyDeleteWay to show you totally care about your job while millions of people are unemployed and WISHING they had a job that would let them get away with such tomfoolery.
Yep. Liberals always do the exactly backward wrong thing.
This is nothing more than fems showing their hurt feelings.
While being gay is a mental illness, it is no reason to call out sick.
that wasn't me just now, someone is posting as me. being gay is clearly not a mental illness, i do not support the notion.
