It's the Brandy, Stupid!

Tis' the season for egg nog.

Here's a recipe from some food network foodie named Sarah Copeland.

"Eggnog has gotten a bad rap because people have only had the cooked method and it's a little sweet and thick and they then douse it with all this rum, which takes away from it's essence."

Baloney.

Spencernog recommends Pennsylvania Dutch Egg Nog, available at your local state store. Lot's of booze in it, brandy, rum and whiskey. 29.5 proof. It's umm, ummm good.

Cheers!

We should drink egg nog at the first annual spencerblog poker game. What an event that could be!

-Randal refuses to play with any $100 chips because they're 'black'. The Tan $500 chips are also debatable in his opinion. Seems to blame every loss on some "lib" agenda

-Diano conspiring that randal and I are acting as rounders against the rest of the group due to our voting records and political beliefs concerning raising pre-flop. Diano also argues for a pre-flop ante because, per his beliefs, "doing so will spread the wealth"

-Mayor C. Scott will take the role of the resident trash-talker, scaring away opponents on monster flops. In lieu of fistfights, any bad beats involving the good mayor will result in a bench press competition.

-Bob has a tendency to bet hard when the flop reveals a pair of queens, explaining that he's comfortable with it. Randal is none too pleased when one particular flop reveals KJK.

-Jonas will attend, and will continue to spend the first hour of play bragging about his background and qualifications. Thankfully, I take him out early with an unexpected full house, and he retreats, stating he meant to do that.

-Aaron, our resident 'newbie', forced with the duty of providing food for the event, will furnish burgers famous for being named after him in CA. Aaron then sits back and spends the evening debating with Gil 1) Who's blog is better and 2) How wonderful the benefits of comment moderation can be.

-franny ward will make a brief appearance, then run out to Sproul lanes for bowling night with his I live in delaware county" blog pals

-I will spend my night either counting winnings or figuring what went wrong in several bad beats, all while smoking a combination of rocky patels and ashtons. I will also make bad jokes, averaging one every 15 minutes - diano understands that i am "trying" to be humorous, yet he can never smile as there are too many plights in the world that need his attention. Also, it doesn't help that Gil had the brilliant idea of sitting diano right between randal and c.scott.

-Gil will keep his laptop by his site for quick searches to rebut everything diano states. He will also attempt to silence our dirty language, resulting in placing a ball-gag on randal when someone brings up 'chelsea clinton'. gil walks away in the money and a fascinating story for the following week's op-ed

-mrs spencerblog rolls her eyes.

Steve-
VERY funny, but we Anonymous bloggers feel left out. By my estiamte, there's at least 6 different Anon bloggers, including me and my two classmates that work with me as a team. The bloggers here have been a great source of material for our sociology class this semester, particularly when trying to write about how bigots might spin a particular topic.

As for the brandy egg-nog, would that be at the local state stores? Are they real hard asses about checking IDs?

On second thought, better not blog and nog at the same time.

And if you buy that Steve, you've been hitting egg nog a little too early.

That anonymous post had me laughing pretty hard. If I do believe that, then I do expect the "Busty Brunette Brigade" to come knocking on my door as Bob had promised! Not being the blog administrator, I would tend to hypothesize that Gil gets a lot of anonymous comments when it comes to truly local issues (e.g. Joseph @ SE Delco, town center in Newtown Square, etc)., but when it comes to pure politics, I'm sure we have ONE anonymous source - who once vowed to never return to this blog. Maybe, just maybe, we'll see a Christmas Miracle and "anonymous" comes clean!

I'm glad everyone liked it, it just shows that a good laugh alwawys goes further than a political squabble. By coincidence, I do have a poker game this weekend, maybe I will pick up my prize this weekend, Gil! It's funny, I haven't been to the State Store since it moved from State St. to Baltimore Pike, shows how much wine & spirits I purchase anymore! (Steve, do you frequent Total Wine on Naaman's Road???)

And, when I refer to the post that merits award consideration, naturally, I am referring to the brilliant work by Anonymous-iano at 12/10/08, 2:35pm. Seriously, team of three sociology majors, brilliant!!!

Steve-
Never said I was a sociology major. Just taking a class. Didn't even say I was a full time student or whether it's a day or night class or how many times a week it meets or whether it's high-school, college, grad-school, etc.

Funny how people project their assumptions.
