Obama's Brave New World
John Kass has a thoughtful piece on the use of embryonic stem cells for research.
In it, he quotes President Obama:
It's good that he said that.
But what is "clear" is that this was not a "difficult and delicate" decision for Team Obama or Mr. Obama himself. It was a foregone conclusion. No "difficult and delicate" balance was struck, as it was during the Bush years. The act of dissecting human embryos for their stem cells will now be fully federally funded if Barack Obama has anything to say about it.
Obama's position is full speed ahead toward a Brave New World.

It's a difficult and delicate balance," said Obama. "And many thoughtful and decent people are conflicted about or strongly oppose this research. And I understand their concerns and I believe that we must respect their point of view. But after much discussion, debate and reflection, the proper course has become clear. ..."
