Mike Chitwood and Used Prophylatics
Mike Chitwood needs to find a new pejorative to discribe members of Upper Darby's criminal class. "Scumbags" is getting a bit tired. One definition of scumbag is "a used condom," which may be why the term grates on some adults' ears.
"Lowlife" or "Skel" even "Dirtbag" would suffice and without the disgusting sexual imagery.

Mike Chitwood has made his reputation with high-profile policing. It appears the residents and political leaders of Upper Darby approve of his brash style.
Yet it seems to me he could accomplish the same thing without reverting to rhetoric that simply reinforces the lowest common denominator.
Leadership is raising people up as well as knocking them down.
I would prefer to see this prominent police chief extol the benefits of family, community and the rule of law rather than routinely offering up headlines that rely on cheap gutter talk.
