Delco DA secretary sentenced for perjury conviction.
NORRISTOWN – Emotions exploded in court as a secretary in the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office was sentenced to jail for lying to a state grand jury about leaking confidential information to obstruct a robbery investigation involving her grandson.That's got to be like excellent grounds for an appeal, right?
"That's some bull----, how they gonna lock my mother up?," the son of Vera Ellen Carroll shouted in a Montgomery County courtroom Tuesday upon learning his mother was sentenced to two-to-23 months in jail. "Racists, you're all (expletive) racist crackers. Racism."

Racism continues to be a problem in our society because people want to use it as an excuse to deny their own wrongdoing or to justify their hate. Dr. King is spinning in his grave because he gave his life and his message is not being heard. This woman is being punished for her actions - not her race.
I don't have all the facts, but I sure would love to know in the history of PA, what sentences have been like in any other like crimes.
What was the make up of the jury for her to yell racism? 12 white males?
I guess I need to look further.
Doesn't matter what the makeup of the jury is, the judge does the sentencing. Jury just determines yes or no on guilt.
Danny, can I suggest YOU read the available information? She pled guilty. There was no jury. She was caught on a recorded call to her grandson who was being held in the county prison. There was a grand jury empaneled to determine if a crime had been committed by her but the make-up is irrelevant. Grand juriesw can only indict - not find guilt. And as the saying goes, you can indict a ham sandwich.
