Another Chevy Volt Fire?

(Posted by Dannytheman)

The fires continue to burn in the launch of the Chevy Volt. It has a starting price of $40,000.00 and it's riddled with dangerous battery issues.
I would bet there was some bean counter who calculated that the loss on the occasional fire or possible electrocution of a fireman was "acceptable"!
It must truly be bad if the Detroit Free Press is writing about it. God knows Detroit needs all the jobs they can get.
I wonder what regulations get bypassed when the Federal Government is part owner of the company?  It is stories like this that that teach me that the government should not be involved with the success or failure of the open market. You can't regulate a product you want to "Hope and Change" to succeed!

"The fire's cause – the battery puncture -- led to questions about whether other automakers require batteries to be discharged of their energy following major crashes, the NHTSA official said. In addition, regulators are exploring protocols for who would do that – firefighters who respond first, for instance – and how quickly should they do it.".

Emphasis above is mine. I am sure our Firefighters and First Responders are getting the training. I also know training is not free!!

Hey Gil - We've been hitting on some serious topics lately. Can you post something funny? Like clips of Perry telling us what 3 departments he would abolish?

"Big day in Detroit. You may have heard about this. The Obama Administration asked General Motors C.E.O. Rick Wagoner to step down, and he agreed, which is good news for Obama. You know, the last time he tried to get someone to quit, it took months. And even then, he had to promise her a job as Secretary of State." --Jay Leno

Funny like this??

"President Obama got some good news today. It seems so many of his cabinet appointees have been forced to pay their back taxes, he now gets a finder's fee from the IRS." --Jay Leno

Or maybe this???

"I tell you, the economy is in bad shape. In fact, the economy is so bad, President Barack Obama's new slogan is 'Spare Change You Can Believe In.'" --Jay Leno

Now that is funny, right there!!!
