How About a Clooney Rule?
President Obama is campaigning for his beloved Buffett Rule that will raise taxes on millionaires. How should the GOP response?
This sounds reasonable and will raise even more money for our poor, indebted government.

The Republicans could say, sure, we’ll go along with the Buffett Rule if you Democrats will agree to the Reynolds Tax, a 50% surtax on the increased incomes of former government officials when they move into the private sector, working for the same companies they once regulated. Or Republicans could offer an amendment incorporating the Clooney Rule, based on the fact that actors and actresses are such advocates of higher taxes: a new, 80% tax rate on all income in excess of $1 million earned by acting in any film or theatrical production. Or they could counter with the K Street Rule, an 80% tax on all income in excess of $1 million earned by lobbying. Or the Ambulance Chaser Tax, an 80% levy on all lawyer contingent fee income in excess of 10% of a recovery. (That one would provoke howling from coast to coast, from one of the Democrats’ prime constituencies.)

This Democrat would have no problem whatsoever with any or all of those rules!
How about a GE rule?
Any member of the Obama business advisory council, getting billions of dollars in no-bid government contracts and paying no taxes, must pay a 50% surcharge on their profits.
Yet another very clearly manifested inconsistency between what the President says on the one hand and what he does on the other hand. Fact: The Buffett Rule is not included in the President's 2013 budget proposal and has been stressed by the White House as a guideline rather than a legislative initiative. If Mr. Obama is going to campaign on the Buffett Rule, he should at least have the manhood to incorporate it into his 2013 budget proposal, which proposal has not been supported even by the Senators of Members of Congress of his own party. Gotta give him credit for being able to try to have it both ways. And, with the thoughtless, blind help of the Bob Bohnes of the country, the crap he throws at the wall may unfortunately stick with lots of people.
Trust me Charlie. I have a lot less influence than you give me credit for. But thanks for the honorable mention. Now go F yourself.
I trust without hesitation of mind in me whatsoever, Bob, that you have a lot less influence than that for which I could give you credit. Your statements on Spencerblog have consistently shown that your lack of influence is a fact.
Bob, love your retort.
