A Fracked Up Film
As promised, my print column on Promised Land.
As I say in the column really good movies can be made about the clash of cultures brought on by industrialization. Here's one of the best. Relax and enjoy the whole thing.

While I will 100% agree that burning natural gas, and domestic natural gas at that, is better than burning oil; the drilling industry needs to do more to operate in a safe manner. A quick read on the subject:

Also, the low level of taxation placed on gas extraction in PA needs to be raised. The state also might consider nationalizing, or whatever the state-level equivalent of nationalization is, the gas resources contained on our public lands. Considering we have some tough budget questions ahead, some extra $ would be helpful.
Raise an extraction tax, watch another state undercut us. The tax is being kept low because jobs are actually being filled here.
