The green left preaches pessimism: Ineluctable scarcities (of energy, food, animal habitat, humans' living space) will require a perpetual regime of comprehensive rationing. The green left understands that the direct route to government control of almost everything is to stigmatize, as a planetary menace, something involved in almost everything — carbon.
I loved it last week when Interior Secretary Kempthorne, when announcing the inclusion of polar bears on the threatened species list, went out of his way to make clear that doing so “should not to be used” by global warming activists and alarmists. This was a clear shot at Chicken Little Lib activists who have been clamoring for the bears’ inclusion on the list so they could then use this as propaganda and legal leverage to further their Sky Falling agenda.
ReplyDeleteWe need more of this sort of preempting predictable underhanded Lib gamesmanship from our government officials when making policy.
And it turns out that Alaska –our only state that actually has polar bears, btw- is against designating them as threatened and is even suing to stop it, citing insufficient evidence.
Once again we see do-gooder Libs meddling where they are not wanted.
