What's the Big Idea?

Jacob Weisberg writes that Obama's first year in office was "brilliant." I was going to post about it myself until I read Roger Simon's brilliant demolition of Weisberg's utterly ridiculous analysis.

Take away Roger.

It may not be a brilliant first year, but as the Times editorial so thoroughly pointed out, Obama has eight years of incompetence to straighten out. Does anyone realistically expect that to happen in 10 months?

Certainly not with the budget busting, power-grabbing approach he and the Democratic leaders in Congress are taking.

Obama is sinking in the polls not because the economy hasn't recovered quickly under his leadership but because a majority of the American people think he is wrong! About Healthcare, about giving civilian trials to terrorists and the economy in general.

Blaming Bush for Obama's mistakes is getting old and most people are no longer buying it.

agree with Gil. Obama applied for this job over two years ago, too. I'm tired of the "prior administration" excuse - do something about it. How about hiring a staff that does more than get you elected?

Gil - Maybe you should write a letter to the editor.

By budget busting, I assume you are referring to the stimulus bill? Certainly not the proposed healthcare bill that the CBO claims will decrease the deficit, and certainly not the bailout, which was passed by W, and certainly not the proposed troop increase in Afghanistan, which I'm sure you and the four remaining neocons in the world support wholeheartedly.

By the way, Charles Johnson, co-founder of your favorite wingnut website, Pajammy Media gave up on the hatred, anti-intellectualism and bizarre conspiracy theories of the right today.

Matt,
You must be talking about the Republican health care proposal. Obama has quadrupled the deficit but that sure is interesting news about Charles Johnson. I haven't checked out his website in years. But I did read up on his transformation at your urging.

Ann Althouse said it best:

"Personally, I don't need to go through the exercise of figuring out what happened to Johnson. I've avoided him all these years because he seemed too extreme and hateful. Now, he's fired up about other people being extreme and hateful? And he's fired up in a way that seems extreme and hateful? I do not need to go there. That was never my scene."

BTW, Any Splinters seen my camera?
